Though he made three feature films - the legendary WHO CAN KILL A CHILD? and THE HOUSE THAT SCREAMED - the ultimate legacy of writer/director Narciso 'Chicho' Ibáñez Serrador remains his groundbreaking 1966-1968 Televisión Española series HISTORIAS PARA NO DORMIR. Serrador wrote, directed and introduced every episode, adapting stories by Ray Bradbury, Edgar Allan Poe, Robert Bloch and his own material under the pseudonym Luis Peñafiel, shocking Franco-era audiences with black humor, macabre themes and sharp social commentary while inspiring generations of Spain's greatest genre filmmakers as well as a 2021 reboot. This definitive 2-disc collection includes Serrador's complete classic series, 1974 special, 1982 mini-series and more that celebrates the Lifetime Achievement Goya Award winner Nerdist calls "one of the great Euro-Horror directors of all time.">/p>

I’m Definitely not a Fan of subtitles, but stuck with it, getting more and more in grossed in the Very Intelligently well Crafted Stories, as the Series moved Forward.
Tales to keep you awake is very unique and won me over/got me hooked, watching them late at Night with the lights off!
The Stories and Quality kept getting better and better after each Episode.
Some of the original tapes have some age related flaws, but this can be forgiven due to the rarity and quality of the shows themselves. Expect something like the early B/W "Dark Shadows" episodes as far as image quality. The 1974 special and 80's revival are in color, but the 60s episodes are black and white. Episodes are presented in Spanish with English subtitles as default option.
You'll find a little of everything here, Poe, Bloch, horror, sci-fi....fun introductions too in the Hitchcock tradition. Highly recommended but not for someone expecting 4K clarity. If you like "Thriller", "Dark Shadows", etc. you can't go wrong here.
