there are some simple phrases used through the story that clearly and simply convey the motif of evil vs good. for example the evil one says, "seeing is believing." The returning king knows better that, "believing is seeing." how many times as Christians due we fear because we believe what we see instead of know in Faith that God will get us through the good and the bad. it is in Faith that we please God. well, I can say that I please God more because of this book. I more clearly see, hear, understand how to apply the Bible to my life, actions, view, faith because of this children's book. for those of you that might wonder why an adult gets so much from a children's book....maybe the history of children's literature might help. the original children's books were meant for adults, not children. this is an excellent example of great writing.
there is only one negative aspect I have with this electronic, kindle book. the pictures are too small to fully appreciate. the paper book has big, full page pictures. You only get one picture per story, but in the paper book it is big. the artist's details and investment in the story are truly communicated. I don't get as much from the story these micro illustrations. the kindle version is still a great buy. you can't go wrong with any version of there works by David and Karen Mains.
I love Aesop's fables. at the end of each story their is a moral to draw. so it is with tales of the kingdom. a good place to consider or meditate or think on throughout the day. I recommend reading these with an open heart and a prayer. "May God let me consider myself as the character in this story. Is there anything that I can draw from there faults and foibles and victories or traits that would help me to be better at being me." ENJOY! The kingdom trilogy is great.
The story is wonderful and our 3 kiddos were sad, when I was done with reading. I need to purchase the other two books.
If I was buying it for the first time, I would have gone for the old book, and skip this one, altogether.
