The second story focuses on the sister of the leading man of the first book. A Thousand Nights sort of feels like it’s taking a thousand nights for anything interesting to happen. Like the first book, it’s mostly a slow plot until the last quarter of the novel, then there’s some sword fighting. Warning, there are a few beheadings in this story, but there is not a lot of gory detail. The ending is sweet, and what happens between the lovers takes place behind closed doors.
The third book is loosely based on Rumplestiltskin. After reading the previous two stories, the protagonists all seemed to sound the same. Educated, highly moral, naive regarding men, polite (almost to a fault), and somewhat wussy when it comes to asserting themselves. Similar to the previous two books, the plot is slow to boil, but then there’s an eruption of activity (magical confrontations) toward the end.
If you don’t want to read about steamy love scenes but want to experience sweet romances, these books will be just your cup of tea.
