The board game Hail to the Chief can take the humdrum out of learning all about our nation's presidents, the election process, U.S. history, and geography. The object is to be the first "candidate" to land on the Presidential Seal. The game, designed for children and adults to play together, is divided into two parts: the Convention and the Campaign. During the Convention, you, the delegate, must accumulate enough correct answers about presidents and the presidency to advance to the Campaign portion, where you'll have to answer questions about U.S. history and geography. The beauty of this game is that the questions are grouped into four difficulty ratings--easy child, hard child, easy adult, hard adult--so players of all knowledge levels can play together. Some of the easy questions are really easy ("Name the national anthem of the U.S."), while others seem a bit obscure ("Did Dakota Territory troops fight in the Civil War?"). The game also tests your honor, since the answers to many questions appear visually on the board itself ("What are the states that border Lake Michigan?"). This Aristoplay game is a Parents' Choice Award winner, and it's no wonder--the trivia-style game helps kids learn in a fun setting and lets adults brush up on seventh-grade history and our democratic process. --Diane Tuman

This is a great game to get your family educated on our presidential history. We've only played it once, but I can see the light bulbs turn on all of our heads as we learned some good info on our country's past. A must for familes with children leanring about us history.

I bought a new version to replace an old one, and was disappointed that factual errors on the question cards hadn't been corrected. Basically a trivia game with really hard trivia rather than general historical facts - more likely to ask Washington's shoe size than the turning point of the Revolutionary War.

This is a good game to play to learn more about how presidents are elected and additional facts about our nation.
It is not for young children however.
Our 13 year old enjoys playing this but he is well versed in the presidents of our country and its history from studying coins.
There are children age questions and adult (harder) questions.
The main downside to this game is that it can take some time to play and complete it.

Great game for president-obsessed kids from age 5 up, & adults. Several levels of question difficulty are on each card so the game can be adjusted to age & knowledge level. Collect states to win the electoral college.

Less competitive and more interesting than most board games to play.

I requested to play this game ALL the time as a kid -- it was my favorite for at least a year. I think it helped me later on, too -- never had trouble in government class! Just want to let you all know that some (incorrigibly dorky) kids think this game is totally fun, not just educational.

Very educational and fun for those with an interest in politics, no matter how much you know.
