Editorial Reviews

The songs sung by 2011 Grammy-finalist Freddy Cole speak of love and life to people all over the world in a voice that is as comforting as it is familiar. His is a well seasoned sound, which while bearing a strong familial resemblance to his late brother Nat King Cole, is unmistakably all his own. It's steeped in the earthiness of the blues, yet possesses a silky sound as suave as the debonair man himself. From Broadway to the blues, is how Cole describes his voluminous repertoire, one of the broadest of any singer on stage today. On TALK TO ME, Freddy Cole explores an interesting program of music by the R&B great Bill Withers, a sprinkling of standards and one tune composed by his son, Lionel A. Cole. With Terell Stafford on trumpet and Harry Allen on saxophone, Freddy Cole's TALK TO ME does nothing but cement his position as one of the world's preeminent male vocalists.

Freddy Cole, vocals; Terell Stafford, trumpet Harry Allen, tenor saxophone; John di Martino, piano Randy Napoleon, guitar; Elias Bailey, bass Curtis Boyd, drums

Freddy as always gives a warm feeling inside you as you listen to this CD. The musicians on this CD are all in the grove. The arrangements are perfect. This is one of the best CD's Freddy has put out. I give it a 10 star.

But, alas, at last his wonderful sound has been revealed to me...his warm, romantic and utterly original way of singing caught my attention (and my heart) immediately! I now own two of his CD's: "Talk to Me" and "To the ends of the Earth", and I must say I find them both immensely satisfying. If I were a smoker, I'd probably have a cigarette after some of his interpretations...(-:)
It's really hard to believe Freddy just celebrated his 80th birthday in October of this year...wow!!
He's got it going on!!

I'm a jazz lover. This classic jazz singer has been around for a while. I love his old-school jazz sound.

Heard Freddy on a station out of Atlanta and had to have this disk. Great music to play when you're relaxing for the evening. Even the kids love him!
