Also we can't always get what we want, and we can't control others but we can let them know the terms of discussion. Or if 1) your condo neighbor won't move her car and 2) you're late for the third time(there are scofflaws or folks who don't even know what laws they agreed to follow) and 3) you have warned him/her and cautioned sufficiently & you were heard, do call to have the car towed.
This book helped me realize that communication is more about observing and listening (the right way) then it is about speaking. The best part is that Dr. Neha has outlined practical tools to improve one’s communication rather than just speaking in theory. I have taken quite a few corporate communication training courses but the tools in Talk Rx surpass anything that I have ever been taught before. I have enjoyed reading Talk RX and it has helped me improve my communication and health, I only wish someone had given me this knowledge before.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking to improve their quality of life.
This book brought me an awareness I needed and taught me basics I wish I had been taught in 5th grade. I am thankful for the clarity this book brings and the practical skills I can use to improve my communication, relationships & life instantly. Love never seemed so attainable. I bought one for everyone I care about, its a must read.
Starting with the premise that if you can change how you respond to a situation, you can change the outcome, the author lays out her principles in five logical, common sense chapters: interpreting your body, your thoughts, your emotions, your desires, and the integration into action.
Case studies clearly illustrate her principles and each chapter ends with tools that help to identify negative behaviors and suggestions how to convert and diffuse them into positive, direct communication and understanding.
The author has a web site one is encouraged to visit. A 37 page “Talk Rx Journal” can be downloaded from the site and used as a workbook to enhance the learning experience and assist putting it all into practice. There are also videos and community chat, if desired.
