Stedman in his usual fine fashion, cuts to the chase and makes Scripture abundantly and sometimes painfully clear. As he writes in the opening page of his book, "For Jesus, Prayer was as necessary as breathing. If the Son of God felt such a great need for contact with the Father, how much more do we! Herein lies one of our most basic misunderstandings about prayer," he writes. "We think the purpose of prayer is to give information to God: Lord I need this and I need that. No, the purpose of prayer is not to inform God about our needs, but to conform us to His will. Prayer doesn't change God. Prayer changes us!"
I have gifted this book to many friends and believe it will "grow their prayer life" as it has mine.

I love Ray Stedman's sound and inspiring books. This one on prayer is a treasure. It truly will change the way you pray. I was concerned with the "wish list" kind of prayer going on in many churches and home - partly because we misinterpret Jesus' instructions on prayer. Take notes, underline, reread..... This book can be a life-changer for the layman.

Probably one of the best books on The Lord's Prayer I have ever read (and I've read at least three). Ray has a way with words, he's easy to understand yet able to get to the depths of the matter without losing you in the crossfire. If you yearn for a fresh outlook on prayer and its benefits this is a great read.
