Gotchi figures easily slide on the top of the Tama-Go (Tama-Go - Lime Green with Mametchi shown).
The Tama-Go is a colorful, egg-shaped game that offers hours of portable, interactive fun. This improved and re-designed version is larger, making it easier for kids to use. It features a flat bottom that allows the device to stand when not in use, bigger buttons, and a higher-contrast, four-gray scale display.
Each Tama-Go comes with a Gotchi character and an interchangeable design faceplate.
Slide the included Gotchi character into the slot at the top of the Tama-Go, and you'll have access to that character's games and features. Navigating the game is simple--use the three buttons to toggle through icons on the menu screen. The Tama-Go game features 10 interactive modes and a date and time function.
Eat, Play, Potty Train, and More with the Tama-Go
This virtual pet is a great way for kids to learn about responsibility and how to care for a pet. Game play involves meeting the needs of the Gotchi character through many nurturing activities, such as games, play, feeding, discipline, potty training, health maintenance, and more. With new, expanded modes, kids can even take their character to the park or the store.
Kids have a direct influence on the Gotchi's personality and appearance, which develop through each stage of life, from infancy to adulthood. The handheld game keeps track of the Gotchi's growth and general status through points that can be used to access extra features on the Tama-Go or at TamaTown.com. When a Gotchi grows up, it can even meet a partner and have babies of its own.
Orange and loveable, Memetchi is a stylish and sensitive young Gotchi. Cupcakes are her favorite food, and she dislikes eating fish. Memetchi's most striking visual traits are her big, starry eyes, and the single, springy curl on the top of her head. Her favorite quote is "Dreams should always be big!"
The Tama-Go with Memetchi comes with two additional games: "Shoot The Bugs" and "Long Jumper." Her Tama-Go comes in blue with an interchangeable design faceplate that features pink and blue swirls and different images of Memetchi herself.
Change Character Figures for Different Effects and Games
Kids can collect different Gotchi character units to access activities and personality traits that are unique to each. The Tama-Go includes IR communication that allows characters from two different devices to visit and play games with one another. Collect all of the Gotchi characters and the Tama-Go will have a special surprise for you.

-Comes with Memetchi figure that unlocks a new game
-Can connect with other tamagotchis wirelessly. I really liked this feature
-You get to take care of a virtual pet without the mess and cost of a real pet
-You can pause your Tamagotchi if you can't take care of it for a little while
-You can customise your Tamagotchi's house
-It is a good price
-For the most part, it is very durable
-It is very easy for kids to use. You can figure out how to use it almost instantly, but it comes with a quick start guide if you do need help
-they use triple A batteries which are very easy to find
-It's in black and white and it's low-tech compared to the japanese color tamagotchis. It is low-tech in general, but that is not necessarily a bad thing.
-It only comes with 2 games plus the one unlocked by the figure. The games get kind of boring unless you buy more figures
-the chain on both of my Tama-gos have broken. I'm not sure if this was the Tamagotchi's fault though. The plastic piece that goes over the screen gets a lot of scratches very easily, even if you are careful with it
-If you don't pause or mute your tamagotchi, it could start beeping early in the morning, which will be a problem if you get up late or you leave your tamagotchi with someone who does
- Its huge (see next part for more info about that)
Besides those things:
-It is very big. If you have seen the older tamagotchis, they are thin and can easily fit into your pocket. The Tama-go is a lot thicker, so it is harder to take it around with you. This may not bother you if you take a bag with you, but I do not like how big it is.
-This tamagotchi comes with a little pice of paper called a faceplate that goes around the screen. You can take it out and put other ones in. You can also design your own and I loved being able to customize my tamagotchi!
-Tama-gos can be enjoyed by either boys or girls
-I recommend a tamagotchi for kids 6 and up. It doesn't have a lot of reading, but a little reading ability is necessary to use it. It is simple to use and is durable. Kids will enjoy making custom faceplates. These are obviously for fun and not to be educational, but tamagotchis can teach the responsiblility of taking care of a pet. There aren't any really small parts
-Anyone of any age will enjoy a tamagotchi, even grown-ups. DO NOT THINK THAT YOU ARE EVER TOO OLD FOR A TAMAGOTCHI! Sure they aren't as high-tech as a lot of the 3DSes, iPhones, and iPads, but sometimes simple toys are a good idea, especially for kids. These are a great gift for anyone!
(note: If you can read some Japanese and can afford to spend a little more money, I suggest the Tamagotchi P's instead of this)
1. the size is Very big comparing with early versions. As it's using AAA battery.
2. Battery will die very soon. I put 2 new DURACELL alkaline battery, and it only last one month. And I am not playing around with it all day long.
3. I didn't find a way to adjust the screen contrast. it's only readable at a very narrow angle, bad for kid's eyes.
Yes, I know this is an uncommon situation and I understand that problems are more likely to happen but I wouldn't have had it sent there if I'd known this or would've accomodated the situation. This item was only about $8 and I am now having to pick it up at a post office 40 minutes out, not a huge deal but it is a hassle especially for an item where there was very little risk in just leaving it at the door since it's value was not very high. If I were you I would ask your buyer first before sending the item if they'd prefer to be present for delivery or not. This simple order turned into a huge hassle.
