I originally gave this 4 stars. I just upgraded to 5 stars. What an amazing product. The mass produced GMO filled Soy Sauce is extremely strong tasting and salty. This brand is not at all. I am addicted to this stuff. It tastes "clean" and smooth and is not harsh or overpowering. It imparts an amazing flavor to whatever you use it on. I make Homemade Chinese food and this Soy Sauce makes it taste amazing. I use soy sauce in several marinades... this soy sauce makes the marinade so good you almost want to just drink it. I am not exaggerating... you might think that the price is high... but you get what you pay for. With this sauce you get: Peace of mind (NO GMOs! NO Pesticides or chemicals), Quality you can taste, A "less salty tasting" Soy Sauce and with the quality of it you don't need to use as much. I highly recommend this product! :)

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
A wonderful Non-GMO/Organic alternative to the mass produced Genetically Modified Soy Products that are taking over the Soy Industry. GMO has not been proven safe for human consumption and causes incredible problems with rats and other animals and insects. I don't care if there is even a 1 percent chance of something bad happening to my health... I don't want to be that 1 percent!! Thanks to this company I have found another way to be able to enjoy something I like without worrying so much about growing a Fungus or a harmful bacterium in my gut.

If you have never tasted Real, GMO Free, Organic, Naturally processed Soy Sauce... then you have never tasted Soy Sauce the way it was intended. I have never been a real fan of soy sauce, but I do prepare some dishes that are not the same without it. Because most Soy in the U.S. is now Genetically Modified (Do the research and be your own judge on what's in Soy now!) I had to find a replacement option...and Tamari is definitely "it". I have never been tempted to drink Soy Sauce from the bottle but I am with this. It has an amazing rich taste without being overly salty or overpowering. I am very pleased with this Soy Sauce and it has worked wonderfully in anything I have used it with.

Buy Some! You won't regret it. Don't let the price scare you! You get what you pay for.

Not REALLY Soy Sauce

....but an okay substitute if for whatever reason you can't eat soy sauce. I can't. It makes me very, very sick -- fermented wheat is just waaaay too much gluten for me. Tamari Sauce LOOKS just like soy sauce, so that's a good thing -- but it does have a kind of bitter undertaste - almost like it has vinegar in it. I find that if I use a very light hand with it - i.e., not as much as I would use with soy, it tastes as much like "real" soy sauce as it's gonna'. In any case, a lot of the Japanese restaurants I eat in now carry it for their gluten free customers, which is a nice thing -- (of course there's an upcharge -- so I typically carry my own bottle with me) Ha! I recommend this as a substitute for soy sauce; that being said - I wouldn't recommend for it's own sake. If you can tolerate soy sauce -- Tamari is just not THAT good!

I am very satisfied with this soy sauce. It tastes about the same as regular soy sauce. If anything, it has more flavor and is a little less salty.

I only give it four stars because of the condition the container was in when I got it. The packaging was fine (triple wrapped in bubble wrap), and the plastic seal on the lid was intact. However, the plastic ring around the neck that connects to the cap was damaged. This gave the cap room to unscrew slightly, which allowed the bottle to leak a very small amount.

That said, my overall experience has been good. I am happy that I bought this soy sauce.

Rounded, Nutty Flavor; Best I Have Found

This organic Tamari soy sauce is made with 100 percent soy beans and is totally wheat free (as advertised). San J notes on its informative label that regular soy sauce can be made from a blend of soy beans and from 40 percent to 60 percent wheat. I find this pure soy product has a clean and nutty taste that is much more to my preference than 'supermarket' brands. I find some of those to have a bitter after taste. Could that come from the wheat?

Anyway, I love this product and will stick with it for my stir fries and beef jerky and for other marinades.

After tasting this stuff, I think I realized I might have never tasted *real* soy sauce before... instead, constantly being exposed to that caramel-color-and-wheat salt concoction that is everywhere.

Cooking tip - take this stuff, a little bit of cracked brown pepper, a little onion powder, and a little water, and make a thin 'baste'. Brush it on 80/20 hamburger that you've pressed into thin 4oz patties, and griddle or pan-fry on cast iron at high heat. Cook it quick so the meat sears, the fat melts, but the burger doesn't dry out. It'll be the best, simplest burger you've ever made.
