4**** Stars
Tame a Wild Wind

I am not a fan of Westerns but this series is not just about cowboys and Indians it is about love and family...Some of the cutest scenes in the book involve Cassie's daughter, two year old Sarah...some of her remarks are priceless.

About the Author

Cynthia Woolf is the award winning and best-selling author of fifteen historical western romance books. She was born in Denver, Colorado and raised in the mountains west of Golden. She spent her early years running wild around the mountain side with her friends.

Their closest neighbor was about one quarter of a mile away, so her little brother was her playmate and her best friend. That fierce friendship lasted until his death in 2006.

Cynthia was and is an avid reader. Her mother was a librarian and brought new books home each week. This is where young Cynthia first got the storytelling bug. At age ten, she wrote her first romance about a little boy she liked at the time.

Cynthia credits her wonderfully supportive husband Jim and the great friends she's made at CRW for saving her sanity and allowing her to explore her creativity.

Sam Colter, a former Texas Ranger, has stopped by his friends Catherine and Duncan McKenzie's horse ranch for a visit. Tall with emerald green eyes, he catches the notice of beautiful Cassie O'Malley, another horse rancher, and friend to the McKenzie's. Cassie and Sam have things in common, they are both widowed and both ready to take steps to move their lives forward.

Unfortunately, Sam has more business to take care of before he can make long term plans for the future. He is tracking a killer and the killer is tracking him. Sam decides Creede, Colorado is the perfect place to hide in plain site and let the killer come to him. Since Cassie needs a Foreman and he needs a job he decides to go to work on her horse ranch.

Cassie, too, has her reasons for not being ready to settle into another relationship. Her children and ranch are full time jobs and she is working hard to be sucessful. With her heart not fully healed from the passing of her husband can she open herself to a new love?

But making yourself bait for a killer can also put those around you at risk.

"Tame a Wild Wind" is a western romance novel with a great cast of characters. The duel protagonists are interesting, fun, intelligent and have great chemistry. The secondary characters are full, well rounded and thoughtfully drawn. With mustangs and thoroughbreds, kittens and other ranch animals it also has a good cast of non human critters. Of course a book with widows will usually include some children and the character of Sarah is a joy.

I quite enjoyed this novel. The style was easy and compact, well written with just enough romance with the drama to balance the story. Ms. Woolf draws her characters and settings well.

I read the first book and was not really impressed. I thought perhaps I was being too judgmental and should give the author a chance to redeem herself, I thought maybe the first book was just a one time miss and this book would make me see that this author was really as good as all the 4 & 5 star reviews claimed.

I don't know what to say - If anything, there were more typos in this book than in the last one! Also this story was filled with just as many errors/inconsistencies as the first book.

First and foremost - the author marries Cassie off to Rafe (Duncan & Catherine's foreman in the book Tame a Wild Heart) in the first book - it was right there in the epilogue - and I quote :

"I was over at Rafe and Cassie’s today. He told me they’re expecting,” said Duncan.

Woolf, Cynthia (2014-01-07). Tame A Wild Heart, a western romance (Tame Series) (Kindle Locations 3410-3411). . Kindle Edition. "

Well, in this book there is no mention of Rafe and Cassie was widowed - having been married to a man named Michael O'Malley. HOW CAN AN AUTHOR FORGET WHO SHE MARRIED HER HEROINE OFF TO IN THE PREVIOUS BOOK??? Unforgivable - that is not the only mistake - it is just the most glaring.

I will not even bother with the next book - I tried and even gave this author a second chance - apparently many people enjoyed this book, I just wasn't one of them. I said it about the last book and I will repeat it in this review - this author needs a better editor and at the very least a proofreader. I couldn't write a book, so I give her credit for that, but if you are going to expect people to give you their hard earned money in exchange for your work - make sure your work has been checked and double checked before you put it out there.

I loved this powerful funny romance. The author brings you a story of pain and losing the one you love along with sorrow of starting over. She gives you a look at the past and the hard life of living in the west along with some funny good times. I just loved Cassie daughter she keeps you laughing out loud at her innocent comments which are priceless. Two people who are attacked to each other one willing to give love another try the other to afraid of losing someone the love.

Cassie is a sweetheart just trying to make a living after her husband died it has been hard to carry on. She has kept the ranch running by selling horses to the army and doing what she loves with is raising and training race horses. She needs a new foreman and Sam is just the ticket that is until sparks start flying and they can’t keep their hands off each other.

Sam has not had an easy life he was a Texas Ranger until that life took the life of his family. He hunted the man down who killed his family in cold blood and watched him hang. There isn’t a day that goes by he doesn’t think about his time with the rangers and all he lost. He is a trouble soul just taking life one day at a time. That is until Cassie and her family came into his life. He now has a reason to carry on and a woman to court only she isn’t letting him but that isn’t stopping the cowboy.

Lia Frederick as the narrator did a wonderful job I love her many voices. The male ones were just as great as her female ones. The one I loved the most of Sarah Cassie’s daughter she truly out did herself there. There are not background noises or break in the audio just a wonderful clean and clear audio which you will enjoy from start to finish. She puts feeling and emotion in her audios never leaving you guessing how each character feels.
