The young woman is out of control and a handsome cowboy with a heart of gold is just the man to straighten her out. It's certainly not easy, though. Samantha's acting out for reasons he has to dig to recover, and even when he figures out how to handle her, there's still plenty emotional volatility to make an engaging story.
This story is written in a clean way, balancing spice and plot perfectly. I loved the slow build between these characters from two very different world. It's a bumpy ride for Samantha to end up in this cowboy's arms, but when she finally does, it's explosive! The two begin a tumultuous relationship filled with passion, missteps, and sexy corrections with the alpha rancher leading the way.
Great new path for Terry Tower's work. I hope there are more steamy Western romances like this from her!
I'm a huge fan of Terry Towers, and I especially like her romance books, so I definitely wanted to give this one a try. I'm not big on Western Romance or cowboys most of the time, but I was willing to make an exception for an author that I know can tell a wonderful story.
What I like about Terry Towers, and this story in particular, is that it's not the same as everything else. It's definitely got the Western aspects, and the cowboy appeal is there, plus that sort of small town cozy feel to it, but there's just so much more to this story, too.
The beginning starts right in with it, with a sort of kidnapping/abduction type of angle, except not really. Samantha's been causing some trouble with her wild child ways, and Connor's been tasked to watch over her and keep her in line somewhere that she can't get into trouble (or at least not too much trouble). That's the goal, anyways.
These two have some immediate tension in more ways than one, and honestly I think they were destined for trouble from the beginning, but in a good sort of way. I liked the learning angle, where they kind of each figure each other out, testing boundaries here and there, and everything progresses like that.
It's definitely a great love story! It's a great story overall, too.
I'd highly recommend this one. If you like Western romance, I think you're probably in for a treat. I'm not an expert there, but I really enjoyed this one. Otherwise, if you just want something from an author that knows how to tell a really alluring story, this one is also for you! I think you'll really like it.
The last thing Conner wanted was to take care of some New York rich snotty chick with an ego the size of Manhattan, but she has a way of burrowing herself into his life and making him want things he thought he'd never want again.
Can the two overcome their differences and their pasts and find happiness in farmland Idaho?
Samantha has her moments of being a pain, but that's mostly at the beginning. She's strong and assertive and when she finds something, or someone, she wants she goes after it. Conner has pain he's trying to bury in the past, he's afraid to admit when he wants her but once he accepts it he all in and doesn't let anyone get in the way. Their story has sweetness mixed with sass and enough uncertainty to keep you wondering what will happen in the end. This was a fun afternoon read for me!
I'll admit it--when I started reading this, I didn't like Samantha much. But I'm pretty sure I wasn't supposed to. :) She changes during the story, though, so no worries. She changes, and shows her true self. As for Connor--gotta love those cowboys! He's just smokin' hot, start to finish. And Jacob...no, Jacob's not another smokin' hot cowboy (not yet, anyway). He's a young teenaged boy who's just sweet. All in all, the characters in this book were great, the plot was straightforward and fun, and the sex was hot hot hot. Loved it!
