I also loved Dee. I thought she was funny, vulnerable and brave. Yes, she had some emotional baggage that made it difficult for Matthew to get close to her. But, it was normal stuff that just needed the right man to come along and help her get over it. She also sounded so gorgeous! I could see her very clearly as I was reading. She was such a free spirit- uninhibited in her emotions and full on, in your face, honest.
She and Matthew had great chemistry that practically jumped off the page and didn't simmer down at all. They are a great couple and I am glad they fought for their HEA.
The supporting characters in the book were great, too and so now I am going to go back and start at the beginning of the series with Tangled. Now that I have some background on Drew and Kate, I think I will enjoy it.
The writing was great- very descriptive with lots of witty banter.
I also bought the audiobook and the narrator was really good. At times his voice sounded a little like his mouth was full, but I thought he sounded, for the most part, like a sexy young man.
Tamed is the story of Matthew, "my" Drew's...yes I said "my"...get over it...well anyway, Matthew is Drew's life long friend. We are told his POV of his hot and sexy romance with Dee, AKA Delores, Kate's kooky dressing, crazy funny, rocket scientist bff. That was a mouth full.
This story takes place in a parallel universe to Tangled so we get some more incite into Drew and Matthew and how they changed from man whores to one woman men.
Early on, Matthew informs us that he and Dee are in love but as he says, "..the greatest part of a road trip isn't arriving at your destination. It's all the wild stuff that happens along the way."
So how does this wild couple actually become a couple?? Well all I can tell you is there are bumps along the way, as we would expect, but these two have the art of make up sex down to a science!! After all she is a scientist.
Oh and yes, yes, yes, ...little Mackenzie and her swear jar are back...smartest kid ever!! " Did you know the girl penguins got the boy penguins by the balls?"
Although Matthew's inner thoughts are not as irreverent as Drew's are in Tangled , Dee makes up for it with her own non filtered sentiments. So you will laugh . I doubt you will cry (unless you take this book boyfriend thing very seriously...uh hmm. ) but you will definitely enjoy this book.
Okay So I am ready to give "my" Drew away to Kate in Tied... so bring it on Ms. Chase I can handle it !!!
Matt is the sort of guy who likes to leave things uncomplicated, so while he's content with his job and hookups, he's not a workaholic like Drew. He'd rather spar at the gym or play video games. When he sees Dee, it's lust at first sight, because Delores Warren is a rather intriguing package. She dresses seductively, is a hardcore chemist and isn't looking for anything serious with anyone. Dee is only close to Kate and Billy, everyone else is kept at arm's length.
Delores through Matt's POV really surprised me, she's completely different than how Drew or Kate see her. For Drew, Delores is a ball buster and obstacle whom he tolerates for Kate's sake. For Kate, Dee is her best friend and honorary sister since childhood and Dee is very protective of Kate. Through Matt, Delores is complicated, vulnerable and not clingy. I'll admit, I didn't know what to make of Dee as the lover/girlfriend. She puts up a front of toughness and indifference that Matt desperately wanted to break through, but Dee wouldn't give in no matter how hard Matt tried to prove otherwise. At the same time, Dee is very direct, bold and compassionate. She doesn't like other people to see the woman on the inside, the one who craves the same things that other women want - love, tenderness and passion. She doesn't know that she's struck gold with a guy like Matt who doesn't want to let her go. I also liked seeing more of Matt's relationship with Drew, Alexandra and Mackenzie. Cute story overall, but Tangled is still my favorite of the series.
