Taming the Beast Within: A New Weapon in the War on Candida Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 43 ratings

Candida albicans is a yeast that sits benignly inside of us, until certain conditions arise that cause it to go berserk and start to spread. When it does, it can lead to a host of mysterious ailments, including:

- acne
- memory problems
- psoriasis
- hearing loss
- tinnitus
- colitis
- fatigue
- Crohn's disease
- mind fog
- food and sugar cravings
- seasonal allergies
- prostatitis

...and even cancer and M.S. Experts in this field claim that Candida overgrowths affect as many as 30% of the population.

Finding himself a part of the 30% statistic, author and journalist Cash Peters submits to a full immersive experience, committing to a month-long experiment: a take-no-prisoners 30-day Candida cleanse, in an effort to establish the real cause of a yeast overgrowth and to possibly beat back its advances before it becomes even more serious.

The resulting journal is remarkable, the insights more touching and thought-provoking than many medical books on the subject, and the conclusions positive enough to give others who are dealing with a pernicious invasion of Candida albicans a ray of hope.

This book ought to be mandatory reading for every physician and healthcare provider. After searching for three years for the reason I itch like a crazy lady, have developed multiple allergies, ringing in my ears, hypothyroidism, just to name a few health issues, Cash Peters has the answers...Candida! This book is informative, just technical enough but easy to read and comprehend. He takes a very serious subject and explains it no holes barred. And when you get to the 30-Day cleanse section it's laugh out loud funny, several times. But what can I say... potty jokes always made my sisters and I laugh. I've completed two 26-day "water only" cleanses over the past 18 month out of desperation to try and rid myself of the insane itching and scratching on my head and torso. I wake up in the morning and have scabs and blood droplets on my nightgown from night itching on my stomach. I felt great at the water fasting conclusion, cleared up sinuses and post nasal drip, sore joints and general aches and pains but never eradicated the constant itching. Gave up gluten, wheat, nuts, and corn. Felt much better, but still itched and had a distended stomach, which I was beginning to think was a parasite. Worst of all the sugar and carb cravings continued to be out of control prior to and following the two water only fasts. I knew in my soul that something was still terribly wrong.

My unabated research continued and two days ago I stumbled upon Candida. Interestingly none of the mainstream websites, like WEBMD for example, really pointed to Candida. Yesterday and this morning I did the "spit test" and low and behold I had strings yesterday and just a big glob on the bottom of the glass today. Research continued. This morning I stumbled across Peter's book, ordered it and read it through until about thirty minutes ago. After looking at the poop photos with the white candida and the worms I grabbed my credit card immediately and ordered Humaworm's Candida & Fungi Cleanse on-line as my two health food nutrition stores didn't carry it nor did Amazon. Thank goodness for Peter's "toilet photography." Truly a photo is worth a thousand word in this case! Not crazy about the coffee enemas suggestion, but hey, I'll do anything for relief!

I know in my heart that this is going to work. It's the answer to my intense search and prayers. Peter's book provides a terrific list of books on alternative healthcare as well. And the end of his book is a wonderful heartfelt surprise, so I won't spoil the ending, except to say that Peter cleared up not only his candida but parasites as well.

I am eager to embark on the 30 day cleanse and will not eat the "bad" foods and eat only those that don't inflame the Candida. Frankly not eating at all is easier than eating the "good foods." But I will follow his protocol. I will report back after the cleanse. In the meantime, thank you Peter Cash for your lifesaving book!

I love this book! I gave up alcohol at the start of the year (thanks to the help of Annie Grace’s amazing book This Naked Mind) but found that my sugar cravings intensified to the point of out of control over the past couple of months. I’ve been feeling run down, tired, and stuck in a gluttonous cycle of craving sweets and feeling awful after eating them. I started the Whole30 but a couple of weeks in found that I was still exhausted. I stumbled upon Mr. Peter’s book while googling Whole30 and parasites, bought it for my kindle and couldn’t stop reading! He’s funny, charming and has a holistic approach to health and life that resonated with me. I am now combining my own Candida cleanse with my Whole30 eating, I’m on week two of the cleanse and already feeling and seeing a difference :)
He’s a great author, I’ve purchased 2 more of his books on kindle since reading The Beast Within!

Thank you, Cash, for your honest insights. You are courageous for writing so candidly and clearly. This book is a must read for all humans. Hulda Clark said the two causes of all illness are parasites (including candida) and chemicals (prescription drugs, synthetic fragrances, cleaning supplies, mercury fillings etc etc). The experiences Cash describes in this book go along with Clark. Candida does cause cancer. It has been proven and the scientists and doctors who know this are silenced. Andreas Moritz also is a writer who teaches us to be empowered and take responsibility for our own health. If you are sick: quit turning your power over to others! Step up and heal yourself. It takes courage and work and it's not for the lazy. You have a choice. The information in this book is worth every penny. In an enjoyable way, Cash teaches us and confirms our personal experiences...helps us to feel we are not alone. May we all experience perfect health and pain free living.

So many things in this book ring a bell with me. My diet, my symptoms, my stress, my anxiety, my deep harbored hate. So many things I have been doing to make my body a candida factory!
For two years I've been told I have a bacteria infection, and every time it comes back... and it keeps getting worse. My doctors haven't even brought this up as an option! I've self diagnosed myself! I cannot wait to see my doctor next week and test for this, and start my diet! I can't wait to be relieved of this awful awful growth!

This book is life changing! It is giving me back my life! Buy it! Read it! Change yours for the better too!

Im a Chinese Medicine doctor and got this book to see a different perspective on this topic. Im glad I purchased it, his writing style and humor are amazing, and his explanations about the topic are clear, easy to understand and straight to the point, especially the connections to emotions. Western Medicine ignores our emotions all the time and therefore their treatments on chronic conditions are a complete failure.

The style of writing is great. The author lives it while writing about it. I am however upset that there is no "going back". You go through the turmoil of this 30 cleanse to then say "ok now I must continue this diet for the unforeseeable future in order to not have to go through the body torture again.

I have struggled with a diagnosis of IBS for 15 years, knowing foods, stress and tiredness contributed to it. The medical profession offered pills, but these did not help.
Things improved by treating the causes (as above) rather than just managing the symptoms, but more recently symptoms were getting so much worse.
Candida was never mentioned and on reading Cash's book I now understand why my health had some dips; underactive thyroid four years later and stage 1 cancer six years after that. Certainly looks like candida is to blame and I need to tackle this head on!

I have gone around in circles and spent so much time researching.
I tried various treatments, but never all at the same time... This has been my downfall!

During the past six months I have gone gluten free, symptoms initially reduced, but then started returning until I went dairy free month ago. Again things improved, but I am still not there. Now on reading 'Taming the Beast Within' I know why this occurred and what other approaches I should be adding to hopeful make a change!

I downloaded this book last night and finished it today, hardly bring able to put it down. It is so refreshing to see that Cash went through the same process. His book is a great read with humour and so importantly an insight to his approach. I will now do this....30 days of grogginess isn't long in the scheme of things!!
This book is just what is needed, a complete approach to reducing Candida. A great find.

This little book is a mine of information. No stone has been left unturned in terms of research into every aspect of Candida, there's even a simplified explanation of the workings of the human digestive system! Descriptions of physical tests too. In short the author has done all the hard work for us as to gleaning all the facts.

All this is condensed into an engaging read that kept me turning the pages, unusual for this type of book.
It's written with candour and a good deal of humour. At the heart of the book is the diary of the thirty day cleanse which is fascinating in itself. The author doesn't hold back on the finer details and you feel able to identify with what he is going through. The photos are pretty amazing too.

I was intrigued by the author's theory as to the actual cause of Candida as opposed to the trigger. It is something unfamiliar to me that I haven't seen in other books and makes a whole lot of sense. Better still, it can be applied to other health issues too.

I've learnt a lot from this and taken away many positives. A great book that has shown me a new way forward. Highly recommended to anyone who suffers from Candida, has health problems of any kind, or who simply wants to learn more about a healthy life style.
