The story is okay.
It says first edition in 2012, but the writing style makes it seem like it was written half a century ago.

Nathan's character is not likeable to the end.
Libby is a go getter and much stronger character. Very likeable. If this were real life I would feel sorry for Libby for having lost her heart to Nathan.
But the redeeming factor is that Libby is strong and will have things her own way.

Some of the story was undeveloped and lacking transition. There are sparks between Nathan and Libby and then there is a very abrupt movement to I cannot live without you. Her children are emotional messes and then suddenly just fine. The little girl had somewhat of a transition, but the son did not. This story has a lot of potential, but it just became predictable by the end.

Near the beginning of the novel, one of my favorite characters, Winton, said he liked to read.
He responded, "All those places in the world to see. All there in those books for anyone who can read."

That is what I like about this book. I've never been to Australia. I may or may not go in the future. But as I press the button on my kindle, each page describes a different part. Each description transports me right there where I feel I am seeing what the characters see and I feel what the characters feel.

I look forward to more books from this author.

Do yourself a favour and download this book today. a great novel set in the australian outback. awesome characters ! this is Ann B Harrison`s debut novel and i am certainly looking forward to seeing what else she comes up with, if Taming the Outback is anything to go by i`m sure they will be fantastic.
