This kit is like all the other World War II Tamiya 1/48 aircraft kits, simple, accurate, and easy to build. This model kit was designed with efficiency in mind. The first time you take a look at the pieces you may think you're missing a sprue or two. Not so, Tamiya uses fewer pieces to produce an aircraft that is far more accurate than other manufacturers who make their kits more complex than they really need to be. This enables almost anyone with basic modelling skills the opportunity to produce a nice aircraft they would be proud to display.

The parts in my kit had no trace of excess plastic on the edges (flashing). The detail engraved on the surface is clean and deep enough to be seen through a thick coat of paint (especially nice if you like to hand paint you model). The consistency of the panel lines was above average. A lot of kits have issues maintaining consistency when lines begin to curve around the surface, not the case here (for the most part). Continuity was spot on too - when two pieces are glued together the panel lines lined up exactly. Perhaps I'm lazy but I prefer my prop to be molded in one piece. I dislike the process of attaching each blade and making sure it's angel and position correspond to the others. My recommendation is to attach them all at once so they can be manipulated while the cement is wet. Trust me when I say letting the blades dry individually only to have your girlfriend point out they're not aligned afterwards is a difficult pill to swallow. That said, if there's a point where you risk getting a "glue print" on the model the most it's when you're attaching the prop blades so you should be careful.

It is a great model. Ever since I saw the movie Red tails, I was looking for a model of the aircraft they flew and am very satisfied with it, Great to add to my collection.

Exactly as, maybe better than i expected, looking forward to a great build.. The model must have come straight from Tamiya, three weeks from the time I ordered it, but upon inspection it was worth the wait.
thanks
