A chain saw can only perform as well as the engine behind it. This Tanaka tool's 40 cc, 2.4-horsepower commercial-grade engine features PureFire low-emission two-stroke technology. Fewer fumes mean safer operation and less environmental impact. This design makes the saw CARB Tier III compliant for use in California.
In addition, this Tanaka chain saw's engine is built with the S-Start system and a purge primer bulb. This starting system reduces the amount of force necessary for pull starting, which reduces the amount of stress placed on your body.

The first job was cutting down a 16" trunk tree. I was trying not to over heat (break in period) and didn't rev it up full but with a sharp chain and dry wood as the tree was dead, it breezed through with no problems.
The starting sequence took a little getting used to as it is different than other saws. 1. Pump primer bulb and set the choke. 2 squeeze the throttle once 3. pull the cord and don't touch the throttle. The choke sets the saw to high idol speed to warm it up. When stable then squeeze the throttle to release choke and run saw normally. Works.
