About the Author
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Erin Nicholas loves reluctant heroes, imperfect heroines, and happily ever afters. She’s written more than thirty sexy, contemporary romances, which have been described as “toe-curling,” “enchanting,” “steamy,” and “fun.”
Erin lives in the Midwest, where she enjoys spending time with her husband (who wants to read only the sex scenes in her books), her kids (who will never read the sex scenes in her books), and her family and friends (who claim to be “shocked” by the sex scenes in her books).

This Taking Chances series, however, is something special. I can’t quite put my finger on it. But I really love these stories and characters.
I love Max! He is a hot, sexy, alpha hero that Erin Nicholas writes perfectly. I can really empathize with Max in this story. Most people have or had someone, be it a family member, a friend, a coworker, or someone we want to have a relationship with, that we don’t want to disappoint or be a disappointment to. We may do or say things to secure that relationship and keep everyone and everything happy. At the same time, things that are said and done in the past can influence the way we handle things in the future. And, of course, once bitten, twice shy. This is where we find Max at the beginning of the story. I was riveted watching his growth.
Bree. Who wouldn’t love Bree? Let me start by saying that Erin Nicholas did a brilliant job with Bree and being identified (as a teenager) gifted. One of the characteristics of some highly intelligent people is that they do get bored. Some do job hop. But it’s not because they aren’t satisfied. They are constantly learning and perfecting skills. And constantly looking for a new challenge whether they are aware of it or not. Another characteristic is the need for perfection. Bree’s revelation about photography is a perfect of example of learning something new, but not really telling anyone until she’d perfected the skill. Bree is a brave and confident woman when it came to her ability to do things, but lacked confidence in her feelings. Her growth was fascinating as well. I am in awe of how well Erin Nicholas wrote this character.
I loved the chemistry between Max and Bree – they were best friends after all. This is one of those books that I could not put down. I loved it from start to finish. I loved seeing Jake and Avery from someone else’s point of view and I CANNOT WAIT for Kit and Dillon.
Max & Bree have been friends since childhood and have always been each other's adrenaline fix. They get together every once in a while to do something crazy and challenging and that is just what they do. They cross the line during a tornado and for Bree there is no going back; she just needs to convince Max she is in love with him, not any kind of adrenaline rush. Max thinks Bree is only into him when she is high on adrenaline and he wants everything with Bree. Bree has loved Max for some time now
and just needs him to understand it is him and them and not the circumstances they are in.
This is a sweet love story!! I really enjoyed this book and love this couple!
One of the things I love about this author is the strong sense of friends, family and community she threads into every book she writes. With this series having the backdrop of a town that is frequently hit by tornados, these elements were integral to the plot in addition to the romance and left this reader with a good feeling after reading the book.
This book focuses on long time friends Max Grady and Bree McDermott. While it is the second book in the series it can also be read as a stand alone as it takes place during the same time as book 1, Twisted Up from Max and Bree's perspective.
I already adore Friends to Lovers Books but Erin Nicholas takes us on a wild ride in this book with an F4 Tornado hits the town of Chance while Max is back in town for his 10 year High School Reunion. Max is a storm chaser while Bree is an adrenaline junkie police officer and neither one can pass up the opportunity to chase down this twister. Max and Bree end up a little Tangled Up themselves in a storm drain and their feelings really bubble to the surface. Now the friends have to depend on each other and and its much more than just for friendship.
Erin Nicholas has written numerous novels and I have been following her writing for many years now. She has a talent for creating characters that get under your skin in the best way possible. I find myself lost her her books and unable to put them down. Max and Bree's book is another that kept me turning the pages until the very end and I CANNOT wait until Kit and Dillon's book!
