The plot of this book was great. Two friends, who went through so much, finding each other again and making each other whole again. A very good book that I would recommend everyone to read. I enjoyed reading every minute of it.
I was offered this book in exchange for my honest review.
If you are looking for a sweet romance this is the book for you. For me, I needed a little more heat and angst to keep me interested. The characters had great backstories and I think from the blurb I was looking for something grittier. For a reader that appreciates a smooth storyline, the book will fit you fine.
While reading about Emily and her struggles, I felt for her and jumped for joy when she finally got the nerve to leave her loser husband for good. The small town she left sounded like a dream and when she arrived, it was like nothing changed since she left. Well, everybody was a bit older and wiser, especially Noah.
Noah did his time overseas and has landed back in the small town of Bon Chance along with Emily. Living on the water and making his way doing construction, the only thing Noah was missing was the love of a good woman. He and Emily shared some moments years ago, however now that she's back, he instantly realizes he needs to go slow with her.
Along with Noah and Emily, we are introduced to Noah's extended family that were like family to Emily when she was young. They all waste no time at all trying to hook them up. Both Noah and Emily have some baggage, hers a more present than his, but hope to work through it together. This is where I was starting to want more from the story. Noah sounded much more complex in the blurb, I didn't want to see him struggle, however the troubles he supposedly had seemed glossed over as the story unfolded.
The book is told from Emily's point of view with a little epilogue to wrap things up nicely. As much as I hate to say, it was almost too nice of a romance for me to really enjoy.

Emily needs a change, she loves to cook. Her dream is to open her own restaurant. Her dog Oscar was a stray that she kept. Noah is Emily's best friend from childhood. He is opening the bait shop as Snappers bar and grill with his sister Carly. Offers to help Emily out with her grandmothers house, has a dog, he lives on a house boat and he was in the military and he suffers from melt downs. Carly is Noah's sister, opening Snappers Bar and Grill with Noah. Glinda is Emily's grandmothers best friend, she owns the inn.
This is the Debut Novel for A.L. Vincent and I can honestly say that I'm looking forward to reading more books by A.L. Vincent. This book is very well written and the characters are very well developed. I felt very connected to the characters.
It was decently written and the characters were fairly developed. I just really wish we had more backstory about Noah’s PTSD, I was hoping when Douglas came to visit we’d get the story but it was danced around for the whole book. Maybe in a later book, we’ll get more. I didn’t get extreme feels from this, but I did go through a gamut of emotions. There was laughter, frustration, anger, and triumph. I enjoyed reading it and getting to know the Boonies. I look forward to reading more.
Emily has an abusive alcoholic husband that has no problem cleaning out their bank account while Emily slaves away working to make ends meet. After one too many times Emily packs up her meager belongings and moves back to her hometown of Bon Chance, Louisiana.
Surrounded by her old friends known as The Boonies, Emily decides to chase her dream of cooking and owning a catering service. A childhood friend and member of the Boonies, Noah Devereaux wants to support Emily as she trys to open her own business and rebuild her neglected family home.
Suffering from PTSD, Noah is an Iraq war veteran fighting his own nightmare. But renewing his friendship with Emily has left Noah with a sense of peace and happiness. But with both running from their own personal demons can this friendship turn into something more?
This was a sweet romance that was focused on the depth of Noah and Emily's friendship. I love how the Boonies where there to support and rebuild Emily's confidence. Instead of wanting to go it alone Emily was able to let her friends help her by having her back.
