About the Author
Ty and Kiyoko Heineken have been patrons of Japanese folk arts for more than thirty years. Ty Heineken is a cultural anthropologist and is director of Studio Japan, a conservation workshop. Kiyoko Heineken is a bibliographic specialist at Princeton University's East Asian Library.

good seller and very well described
tansu for collectors and enthusiasts. Modern,
larger scale tansu styles are not considered.
Not really a book for craftspeople either. To some
extent the 1000-coat finishes are explained
but you'd have to be already quite competent
to be able to figure out how to re-create one
of the featured tansu cases.
