Blog postI’m starting to read YA fantasy as bedtime books and I think this is a sign that I’m falling out with the genre for the time being. I’ve had my run, but it may be time for me to move on. Or, maybe they really are just very good books for bedtime because I’m having a harder and harder time getting into it.
A Deadly Education follows El, a young woman who has been sent away to school in order to better train in magic because if she doesn’t, the monsters drawn to magical beings will evenYesterday Read more -
Blog postIt’s been a very long time, but I’ve been getting back into art again. Back in the day, I always had this issue with drawing on paper that I would ink a drawing, make a small mistake, and then that mistake would be all I saw. When digital art came about, I started trying to trace the scanned drawings, but back then Photoshop wasn’t an option and I only had access to a mouse, so…
Well, it’s been a while. I’m a little rusty, but I figured might as well give the characters a shot. Red an4 days ago Read more -
Blog postToday in getting random library books because Libby put it in front of me and I went, “Well, it doesn’t look like there’s a romance in it so…” a science fiction book that I think was up for a Hugo along with This is How You Lose the Time War. So hopeful!
The story follows Sophie, a young student who gets arrested, dumped outside of town, and left for dead for a minor indiscretion. She meets a crocodile, the local species on January who are definitely not crocodiles, and returns to the1 week ago Read more -
Blog postThis is another one of those books that I put on hold so long ago that I’d completely forgotten what it was about. I think I saw people talking about it and liking it, which I probably should have taken as more of a sign of what was to come than I did.
The story follows January, a young biracial girl who has been raised by Mr. Locke while her father goes out to gather strange artifacts for him. Her father goes missing and Locke insists that he’s dead, which kicks January into discover2 weeks ago Read more -
Blog postIt’s time to let you know that I have a book coming out! Yes, another one!
This is the first in a trilogy and will be a bit of a departure from what I’ve done before. It focuses on the story of three sisters in their 20s and their journey to figure out who they are. Okay, maybe not that different.
Fredrika will be out on June 21st, 2021.
It would be a lot easier to break into the assassination game if her targets stayed dead.

Blog postI’m doing good this year! I’m picking up sequels! I’m probably not picking up the last one in the series, but I am starting to read the rest of the series!
The book is a sequel, but it feels very disconnected from the first one. It’s many months later and now there’s a tournament arc. After Kell saved Rhy at the end of the last book and now they feel one another’s pain, they are both feeling trapped by the arrangement and have decided in order to resolve this, Kell is going to fight i3 weeks ago Read more -
Blog postSomeone recommended A Darker Shade of Magic to me so here I am having read it! I don’t remember who suggested it, but thank you, it was a great read!
The book follows Kell, an Antari from Red London and one of the few people who can travel between worlds. In his travels between worlds, you learn about Grey London, which has almost no magic, Red London where magic is a happy thing, and White Lonon where magic is power and things are bad. He is handed a relic from Black London, one that1 month ago Read more -
Blog postI got the sequel already! That was really fast. Solutions and Other Problems continues the trend of being a series of anecdotal essays looking into the life of one woman as she tries to understand life and several of the animals and people who have come in and out of her own.
It’s just as satisfying a read as the first. It has fewer moments of devastation, but the devastation of this one seems to hit harder when it comes. There’s also more of a feeling that there are stories that are1 month ago Read more -
Blog post… from a storytelling standpoint, at least.
This is a conversation I’ve been having a lot in my writing circles: What’s the difference between writing for an indie audience and a traditional publishing audience? Because there is a reason why I ask people about their intent when they are looking at publication and there is a difference in how you write the different narratives.
And a quick disclaimer here: I’m going to be speaking broadly. These are not absolutes, but what curr1 month ago Read more -
Blog postThe City and the City is a murder mystery that focuses on the death of a woman who was found essentially in the wrong city, and trying to figure out what happened to her. More than that, though, the story is about two cities that share the same physical space, that crosshatch in places, and that people can move between even though doing so is illegal. To acknowledge the existence of the other city is illegal and you can be taken by the mysterious Breach if you dare to acknowledge that there <2 months ago Read more

Years after that fateful fall down the rabbit hole, Alice has moved on from the memories of Wonderland and is now attending the prestigious Lucena Academy to get a fresh start.
Unfortunately, a purple haired boy appears at school and reveals himself to be the Cheshire Cat. He speaks in riddles about how Wonderland is a much different place than when Alice last visited and tempts her with a visit back. Alice must decide whether or not she will go back, or the Cheshire Cat will make the choice for her.
There's a new group of people in the plains that are most definitely not from Wonderland. Alice encounters Tiger Lily, a young woman determined to do whatever she needs to help her people as they escape the horrors of their homelands. Though Alice is hesitant to stop looking for Adrianna's brothers, Tiger Lily proves to be very persuasive and will have Alice's help whether she is willing or not.
There was no reason to be suspicious. Her grades were better than they ever had been. Lance was withdrawn, but Adam wasn’t itching for a fight for once. Her friends talked about their plans for the future and carefully avoided mentioning the past. Still, she couldn’t shake the feeling that they were hiding something.
She looked into the mirror, feeling there was something she was missing. From the other side of the looking glass, a pair of purple eyes and a too wide smile stared back.
Adrianna is taking matters into her own hands. If Alice wasn’t going to help herself, then she was going to do it for her. After saving her from another holiday with her father, she was ready for Wonderland to come back into her life again and she was prepared. But the days keep passing and everything remains far too quiet.
Alice is tired. She’s done everything she could possibly think of to make the people around her happy, but it still isn’t enough. Nothing she ever does is enough, and Alice isn’t sure why she’s trying so hard to resist the madness for them.
Those hopes are quickly shattered when the creature from the book begin to attack the student body. Tracking it by the shrill screams of its victims which terrify her to the core, she must find a way to press on. After all, it’s her fault this creature is terrorizing the campus in the first place.
When Alice swears that she is done with Wonderland, Adrianna wants to believe she is telling the truth. Alice has stopped going to Wonderland, stopped vanishing at a whim, stopped ignoring her teachers in class. It’s like she’s a whole new girl, one that is ready to move on with her life and start working toward her future.
But there are cracks appearing in the mirrors--and in Alice’s facade. There is more to that growing illness than she is letting on. But Adrianna has other problems, from Arthur blackmailing her into a relationship to her brother still being possessed. It’s only a matter of time before Wonderland comes knocking again, and someone will answer its call.
The Bandersnatch is gone and Alice is free of the bet they made. Adrianna is awake. Wonderland may be spiraling further into madness but at least with school back in session Alice can try to get her life back to some semblance of normal.
Adrianna, however, is not the same girl she was before. Since she woke up, she is much more aware of the truth behind Alice's lies and more determined help free Alice of Wonderland's grasp, whether Alice wants it or not.
Alice long ago learned that life wasn't fair. She had tried everything to defeat the Bandersnatch, but he remained deep in the forest of Lucena Academy. With only one semester left, she thought she could just enjoy herself as much as possible and wait until he finally took her away forever.
But when Adrianna suddenly falls into a coma, Alice knows there's something strange happening. At the direction of the monster about to claim her, she must go back into Wonderland and through the depths of Neverland to find a way to wake her up. Alice knows time is running out for her, but she will stop at nothing to make sure Adrianna is okay.
Or, well, his ex-boyfriend, he thinks. His memory of the last week is fuzzy. It’s while his roommate, Ally, is trying to help him that they get the phone call; Max has gone missing, and Willow -- who’s supposed to be catatonic and locked away -- abducted him.
Harrison sets out on a mission to find him, but he and his friends are placed under house arrest. Is it to keep them safe from Willow, or is Harrison being used for live bait? Trapped with the mysterious new Doctor Gethen who’s taken a keen interest in them, Harrison needs to make things right, find Willow, and get Max back.
Join Indira as she learns that this utopia of a hero-free city holds a dark secret, and getting rid of all heroes comes at a price.
Whitten was just what Indira hoped for. It banned heroes and villains, which meant no more rebuilding her home after a disaster, no more texts from her mother about how her father had been kidnapped, and no more worrying that she might be forced to become a hero herself one day.
But the city holds a dangerous secret. Just having powers in the city is dangerous and using them in any way is enough to make you disappear without leaving even a memory. Indira can still remember the faces that no one else can, and she is learning just how closely the city is watching her every move.
