I didn't quite realize how much space my iPad takes up when it's on my desk until I started using this TaoTronics floor stand. I immediately reclaimed desk space when I began to use this stand and I quickly learned to appreciate the boost in productivity I gained by more easily being able to view and access my iPad. It is also great for just passively viewing video in bed, or seated somewhere. It's not the best choice as a work stand though because there is a lot of motion in the stand if you are trying to tap and type on your iPad.

I actually use this mostly to watch streaming videos in bed, It's easy just to swing it out of the way when done... assuming the iPad mounting plate doesn't disconnect, dropping your iPad to the floor. More on that later in my review...

The stand is easy to put together. The weighted base (about 10 pounds) is substantial and I never had any issues with the stand tipping on me.

There is the possibility that your iPad will fit in the stand if you have a cover or case installed on your iPad.. it just depends how thick the cover is. Too thick and it won't fit. It it is only a tray type case with no front cover, it would probably fit. Otherwise you simply remove your iPad from it's case and put it in the stand. sans cover.

It was a little bit difficult to rotate the iPad from portrait to landscape orientation. That's not a very significant issue if you don't rotate your iPad very often but if you do, it requires some finesse primarily because of the very poor mounting plate.

The mounting plate is the only problem with this stand. It is simply not well-designed and does not provide a reliably secure attachment of your iPad to the flexible neck. I've had my iPad detach from the mounting plate many times.

What a fun product! I love my iPad and searched for quite a while for a product like this!

The product itself is VERY sturdy! I was surprised at how heavy the base is. The entire unit feels solid and I am comfortable putting my iPad on it. The iPad holder itself is slightly "big" for the iPad 2. I am still comfortable putting my iPad on it as it comes in snug around the iPad but the actual thickness of the corners seems to be big enough for other products to fit. (I'm not sure if that makes sense- think of it like this- the X of the holder is adjustable so it can come in nice and snug around the iPad. However, the padded "clips" that come up and around the front of the iPad are deeper than they would need to be for the iPad 2 and 3.) Again, this product was made to be used for other items as well (and the X portion is adjustable so I think it would fit many things). The "clips" are 1 inch thick on the outside and just over 1.5 centimeters on the inside due to the padding.

Putting the stand together is pretty common sense which is good because the instructions are a little lacking.(i.e. the first sentence is "Floor stand for pad is a kind of holder which mainly for the purpose of making people to use their Pad more conveniently and flexibly." The actual instructions are just pictures. Again- don't let this deter you as putting it together is common sense.

At first I was concerned that the adjustable portion of the stand was "weak", in that when I extended it, it would slide back down. There is an "L" tool included however that allows you to tighten the plastic around the extender. Problem fixed :) (The instructions don't include a picture of this).

MEASUREMENTS-
The base is 5 inches deep and 11 inches wide.

I was skeptical considering the price and stock pictures. I purchased this because I needed a good stand for my iPad when I'm writing or using it as a screen when on the bike trainer. Putting the item together took about two minutes without looking at the directions. The stand is tall overall and in the low position is good for when I'm sitting in my chair or laying in bed. At the highest position the screen is nearly neck level on me and I'm 6'6". I keep my iPad in the Otterbox Defender case, which is a little thick and I worried if the universal joints were big enough to hold the case. It holds, but barely. It is close but it is working fine right now. The iPad itself or in a different case like Ballistic would fit just fine.
I would recommend this and would buy it again.

I really enjoy this mount overall, but just wanted to point out some quirks for consideration. The base is a bit on the heavy side (~15 lbs just to guess), which is really necessary to ensure your $500 tablet isn't knocked over, but if you're hoping to move it from room to room frequently, that might be an issue for some. The flexible neck means that when you touch the screen it oscillates for a bit, which is slightly annoying, but not a big deal to me. The mounting system, being universal, is a tad clunky, but effective. I don't worry about it falling out. Finally, the length of the flexible arm isn't quite long enough to place the tablet directly over my head while lying flat on my back for reading. I'm left to look to the side a little. Just a quirk for me as I was hoping to use it in that fashion so that I could relax my arms and neck for reading to help alleviate some neck pain. YMMV depending on bed height and how close you like to have the tablet while reading.

I'm primarily using it to hold the tablet in front of me to play online poker while running on the treadmill. Makes that 1/2 hour go by much quicker :). Overall, I recommend it and think it's worth the money.
