The shemagh, also known as the keffiyeh or Arab scarf, is a simple yet efficient way to protect your face and neck from sun, wind and sand. It also works well as alternative winter headwear, particularly in areas with snow and strong winds. Although most are cotton, warmer, faster-drying cotton-wool blends are also available. Styles of wearing the shemagh vary, but wrapping the scarf around the head and face provides optimal protection from the elements.
Instructions for Wearing a Shemagh:
⇒ [Step 1] Fold the shemagh into a triangle. Wrap it around the back and over the top of your head, with the folded edge across your forehead, making sure that about two-thirds of the material is on your left. The right end ought to be long enough to come to your chest.
⇒ [Step 2] Use your left hand to pinch the shemagh about 3 or 4 inches from the folded edge and let the edge hang forward.
⇒ [Step 3] Let go of the right end. Using your left hand, hold the edge of the shemagh next to your left cheek and hold it near your left cheekbone. After you do this, use your right hand to pull the left end of the shemagh across your face, over your nose.
⇒ [Step 4] Continue to wrap the shemagh around your face and head until you get it back over your left shoulder. Grip the right tail and hold it to keep from pulling the shemagh off your head as you wrap. Work your hands down toward the ends as you wrap.
⇒ [Step 5] Pull the shemagh as tight as needed to feel comfortable. At the end of the process, take both ends and, somewhere near your right temple, tie them in a knot. A square knot will secure the shemagh adequately.

After reading through the reviews I think it's pretty clear the seller sources these Shemaghs from miltiple/various suppliers. I apparently got lucky. I have over a dozen shemaghs that I've picked up over the last 7 years from various websites, ebay, amazon, etc. And the Shemagh I received is one of the highest quality I own. It's thick, soft, and has a tight uniform weave. I have a feeling a lot of the sellers source these from various suppliers because all the reviews are hit and miss. Mine didn't have a made in China sticker on it like another review stated theirs had. The packaging was basic and there were no labels. I wouldn't hesitate to order more of these if I knew I was getting more of equal quality. I live in Utah and it's been hovering around 10 degrees F here. I've been wearing it around my neck and it keeps me very warm. I also have overly sensitive skin and haven't had any irritation issues. [Sensitive like I have to use special detergent, dove soap, be careful of what lotions I use, cant lay on the floor of anyones house, have to wash all store bought clothes and sheets before using/wearing them etc. Very sensitive]
I did wash it in my front load washer on a normal cycle with the rest of my clothes right when I received it. (I hung dried it btw)
Another reviewer said he got a rash on his forehead from wearing his before washing it first.
So I think with any Shemagh purchase it's a coin toss. I hope you get as lucky as I did, but chances are you wont. I placed my order late November 2016. So if you order camel/black right now you'll probably get a good one!
These ones are well-made. No dye running in either of my copies even in the initial rinse and dry, and they are holding up under regular use. They're also close enough to square and the right size to tie in the traditional manner, and they break in quickly which is a bonus.
This is my 3rd shemagh and now, shockingly by far, my favorite.
Compared to my other two, this one feels sturdier, softer, and significantly better quality.
I was reluctant to purchase this brand from "TAPP" because I noticed what seemed like a logo sewn in in images, and decided that I would need to remove it, but surprisingly there was no actual logo tag at all to remove.
I will be buying my next shemagh from these guys as well.
