It looks very well made and Targus has been making stuff for awhile, so I personally trust the brand and expect the company to stand behind it. It's lightweight but appears sturdy and I feel confident my subcompact point and shoot digital is secure hanging around my neck on this strap. At first I thought a quick release would be nice, but then thought nah, that's just one more thing that can go wrong, a weak link in an otherwise secure retention system.
My problem is not to replace the $4 lanyard, I know that either Amazon or the manufacturer will refund this. Rather, I am now stuck with a $160 camera that is damaged, and I am sure that the manufacturer's warranty will not cover a drop, and I cannot return a dropped item to Amazon. I don't even think that an extended warranty will cover this as it was purchased only a month ago!
I highly doubt that Targus will replace the camera, or refund me the purchase price. If I am wrong, I will let you know!
I would not use this lanyard to secure anything that may be damaged with a drop. So other than flash drives and keys, I would look elsewhere. Remember it is not the cost of the lanyard, but the cost of what you are securing that matters!
My only complaint is I look like a tourist when I use it, but it sure beats carrying a camera by the wrist strap, accidentally letting go of it, and ruining a $200.00 camera.
PRO: (1) The repaired lanyards are sturdy and functional. The neck strap is braided plastic. Both the neck straps and the string loops appear capable of bearing the weight of a portable camera. (2) The lanyard is large enough to fit over my head easily, even when I am wearing glasses. (3) The neck strap takes up very little space in a camera case or computer bag.
CON: Both lanyards arrived with broken clasps.
If the product had arrived unbroken, I would have given it four stars. Since it was easy to repair, it gets three.
Canon, which is very heavy duty for a point and shoot neck strap.

Broke after only a few wearings. The metal piece at the end of the strap (with the loop that attaches to the camera) fell off. Read morePublished on July 14, 2014 by James Carollo
Light weight and just the right lenght, most straps are too bulky and too short. You can not beat the price either.Published on August 21, 2013 by C. Osullivan
Nicely made, good material used for the strap. Winds around well, can probably hold a DSLR's weight. I highly recommend.Published on May 11, 2013 by Alex

It's perfect for it's intended use. Feels sturdy, it's long enough and it's cheap. I'd buy another one if I were looking for one.Published on February 19, 2013 by Angel E. Valentin
