Style: Leather Carrying Case

I bought this Targus CLN5 15.4 Traditional Leather Case through Amazon with Data Vision as the seller. Why did I mention that? Because this case has recently undergone a "refresh" as they put it, which means they re-designed it. The newer version, which is what I received from Data Vision, has way more pockets and space than the much older original version. I contacted another large supplier and they in fact had the older version, and were charging more money. You will notice that it is selling for much more from all of the other suppliers. The new one is great.
This model, unlike some of the competition is all leather on the outside. Lesser models have leather faces on them, but then they have plastic sides. There is plenty of room for everything in here. I have a 15.4 inch laptop, and I can store the large section of the A/C adapter in the same section. They even have an adjustable dividing flap in that section so it does not touch your laptop. The remaining detachable plug in cord of the adapter goes in the compartmentalized section of the case with all of the other items, like wireless mouse, cable connector for my [[ASIN:B000FKG84C Vantec LapCool 4 LPC-420 Foldable Notebook Cooler with 4-Port Hub (Black)]] which sits neatly under the laptop since folded up for transport it only takes up .9 inches of space. (9/10ths of one inch) So this case has ample room for my HP 50G-133US laptop as well as the .9 inch cooler sitting underneath. With the velcro secured tie down strap, nothing moves.
There are more compartments on the other side as well. The pictures illustrating this case are a mish mosh of both series. The one I received from Data Vision, the newer "refresh" version as they call it, is the one you see in photo number 1, the featured photo. If you notice the second picture and other pictures are a different case, the older version. You can easily see the difference because the older one has a long pad on the strap, and the new one has an oval, adjustable one. By visiting Targus's website you can see photos of the new one in its completeness. I would upload those photos, but I think it is smart to leave the mix, since that is what some of the suppliers are selling.
This case has a definite luxury about it. They have their top cases going for 4 times as much, but this one really fills the bill nicely; it's executive material without going over the top. Hey for 10 or 15 dollars less than the Data Vision price you can buy an all plastic one.
Overall this case is well designed, and comfortable. Highly recommended.

Very Good Top Loader Professional Laptop/Tablet Bag (Not a Backpack)

After using a smaller Samsonite laptop bag for my Surface Pro 4, I decided to find one that was not too bulky but large enough to carry my tablet and accessories such as battery pack, power cables, storage media. I looked at others by Wenger and Samsonite but could not find one that met my needs. I found this one at Best Buy and although the price on Amazon was the same, decided to purchase it on Amazon.
The reviews on Amazon did not help, however, as all the ones listed are for a Targus backpack and not the one pictured, which is a top-loader laptop bag. I purchased the top-loader, not the backpack. The bag provides plenty of room for my Surface Pro 4, which I have in a slim hard-shell case within the bag. The laptop bag can fit 15.6" laptops, which allows me to fit the Surface Pro 4 and its case in the patented Sling Suspension System section. This area lifts the laptop/tablet from the bottom of the bag to help protect it from falls. The middle section is the patented checkpoint friendly area that zips open to allow the bag to lay flat on airport conveyor belts at security checkpoints. I have TSA pre-check so am not sure if I will use this feature. I am not even sure TSA will allow you to place your laptop/tablet on this open bag rather than placing it in a bin.
The third main compartment contains a slot to hold a smaller tablet. This is where I place my batter power pack, which is about the same size as a smaller tablet. There is also a fabric divider to place paper documents. A slightly smaller zippered section in the front of the bag has slots for three pens/styluses, two slots for USB flash drives and a slot for an SD card. There is a pocket for business cards and two pockets for other items. A zippered compartment with a mesh fabric can hold other items such as power cables.
On the front of the bag is a zippered section that is about 1/2 the size of the bag. I plan to use this to place my wallet, keys, and other pocket items when going through airport security. The shoulder strap secures at the top of the bag on opposite sides of the carrying handle. The carrying handle is sturdy and has magnets to help keep the two pieces closed. The magnets are not very strong, however but you can still carry the bag with the sturdy handles. A trolley strap is on the back of the bag to allow you to slip it over the handle of roller suitcase.
The outside of the bag has a professional look with ballistic material and faux leather trim. It is not a backpack but can be carried with the handles or placed on your shoulder or used as a cross-body bag. The bag is very good and I may give it five stars once I use it on a few trips.
I have not used the bag on trips yet but have my first business trip next week since I purchased the bag. It seems to hold all my needed items but feels slim enough to fit under airplane seats. I suggest you find physical bags in stores to make sure they will fit your needs. Then check Amazon for better prices.

Too much padding, durability issues

First, I must say that I was very impressed with the padding on the laptop compartment as well as the compartment next to it. If the rest of the bag had been more sensibly designed, I would probably not be posting this review. Unfortunately, the remainder of the bag was excessively padded, making customization difficult (I like to put pins on my bag) and increasing the overall thickness, which made it rather ungainly to carry. Further, after less than two weeks, I found that a seam had broken open on the front of the bag, exposing interior compartments to the air. I am not returning it as I made some modifications to accommodate pins and it's no longer in a new state; however, I do not believe these efforts caused the exterior seam to rip.
Overall, I must say I am disappointed in this bag and would not recommend it. If you want every last compartment padded to excess, and want a professional piece of luggage, well, it certainly does look the part. But I would still be concerned about its durability and leery of taking it on a plane. I'm switching back to another brand which has recently updated their flagship bag to better accommodate my gaming laptop, and I consider this particular item to be a waste of money where my own needs are concerned.

I am a pilot for a living so I go through security several times a day and need a security friendly laptop case. This one fits the bill. I bought this because I had another Case logic that finally gave up after 5 years of airline travel.
Another reviewer mentioned that you should buy the previous model to save a few bucks. When I was doing my shopping the difference was about five dollars, and that one does not have the sleeve for a tablet on the inside. For me this was worth the extra few dollars.
This case exhibits Case Logic's usual rugged construction and solid zippers. I like that this model has plenty of other pockets, and space for cords, and even a spot for a small binder or portfolio.
Because I go through security so much I'm a big fan of the airport friendly design. This case is pretty much universally accepted by TSA and makes grabbing and going really easy. The mostly black design is a little boring but professional, which is good for my job.
My only complaint, and why this case got 4, not 5 stars is that the strap on the back that's designed to go over the handle of your roll-aboard is just about half an inch to small for my suitcase. I've solved this by simply taking out the stitching on one side, but it was a little inconvenient. It wasn't a problem on a similar product that this one replaced. That being said, I do have a roll-aboard that's designed for flight crew so the handle is wider than most, and if you have a normal one this should not be a problem for you.
The same case is about double at my local office supply store so this is a pretty good deal.

He has been using this Case Logic 15.6" Laptop Case for a couple weeks now, and it has worked very well. He likes the fact that it has a handle, as well as a shoulder strap so he has options on carrying the case depending on how many books he is also carrying. The case seems pretty sturdy, and it is holding up very well. It's nice that this case has a couple extra zippered pockets for any papers or accessories he might need. Overall, it's a good product.

I purchased this bag about a month ago. One of the metal rings connecting the hand strap to the top of the briefcase broke the day after I purchased it. While the briefcase was filled with papers and was heavy as a result, my thought is that the manufacturers should have tested the briefcase's capability to withstand a full stack of papers. I ended up using a key ring to connect the strap to the bag in order to get me through my business trip. Since then the briefcase has held up well but I returned it because of the faulty ring. I really do like the briefcase and I plan on purchasing the same briefcase to give it another chance.
