The case fits the BlackBerry PlayBook well. It gives protection to the tablet. The stand also works. There are cutouts for the jacks, buttons and camera as expected. So why the low rating? There is a serious flaw in its design. The case holds the Playbook by a cradle at the bottom edge of the Playbook, and two straps on each upper corner. The cradle at the bottom covers over half the area of the bottom frame (the area outside of the display screen). On other tablets this would not be an issue, but the PlayBook is different. The touch gesture to shrink the current app is swiping a finger from the bottom frame area towards the center of the screen. The cradle gets in the way. I can still do it but have to either be very careful, or do it several times to get it recognized by the tablet. Basically it makes the PlayBook much harder to use. I suspect that the designer of the case only based on a dimensional drawing of the PlayBook for the design, and never actually used the PlayBook to discover this flaw.

PROS:

- Good material
- Good workmanship
- Enough protection

CONS:

- Case gets in the way of basic operation (see above)
- Very bulky. The folded thickness with a PlayBook is over 1 inch.

I have had this case for about two weeks. It holds the Playbook securely, protects it when carrying and has a built in easel. The bottom of the Playbook is held by a leather strip that runs the width of the tablet. There are cutouts for the hdmi, USB and magnetic charger connection. The top is held by a leather strip that goes over each of the 2 corners. There is a cutout on the back of the case so the camera lens is exposed for taking pictures or movies. The opposite flap of the case folds over the tablet to protect it when carrying. There is an elastic band that can wrap around the tablet and the back when carrying to keep the top closed. The top acts as an easel with stops for 3 different angles. The bezel is exposed around the Playbook so that all gestures work easily. I have only taken the Playbook out of the case once to apply a screen protector. You can plug the USB charger in when the case is open or the top is folded back. The leather stitching is well done. The case provides a professional look and does not add much bulk to the Playbook.

Seems fine, a little bulky and I wonder how long the elastic band that can hold it closed will last before it gets too stretched out of shape to hold the case closed. Holds the Playbook in securely enough. I didn't have any trouble with case obstructing the borders of the screen for "swipe" gestures.

I very much like the case...if I could give 4.5 stars, I would. But, clearly, the case was developed from early specs or some such (actually it kinda had to have been, really).

For me, this only becomes an issue when I want to watch a video at an angle with headsets sitting next to a power source. This is something I anticipate doing on a reasonably regular basis. However, you cannot do this with this case. The headphone is on top accessible via cutaway. The power plugs into the bottom and cannot be plugged in when the case is being used in stand mode. I am researching the possibility of a right-angle usb b cable to see if that might help. For the most part, however, the purported 10 hour battery life should make this a non-issue.

As to other comments that the stand collapses when moved. So? And, really, not that easily. And, since pretty much you'll have it an angle while you're watching something how many occasions will you be moving the thing in stand position?

The comment that the bottom bezel is slightly blocked by the case is valid. And, from what I understand, you did originally have to swipe from bottom up to wake it up from standby.. But with the current software version, swiping from top or sides will also awaken it.

I have mixed feelings about the elastic band. yes, I can see it eventually stretching out of shape and see no easy way to replace it. But, I prefer the way it has a very low profile when it is not holding the case closed as opposed to velcro/snaps which could distinctly affect the balance when lying down. My actually biggest problem is that it blocks the camera lens, but since I don't THINK that you can use the volume rockers as an external camera button (which would be cool), it doesn't really matter.

All, in all, this very nicely serves my needs and protect my little toy.

I purchased this Targus Truss case based upon an earlier review that said it fit a Kindle Fire. It fits the Kindle Fire nicely and the power button and charger plug aren't covered up. It's as if it were made for the Kindle Fire. The construction of the case is nice...it's heavy duty with a nice plush interior that will protect the device. I've seen other cases in stores that are very thin vinyl and flimsy and this is not. As soon as I finish this review I'm ordering another one for my daughter-in-law.

Great quality leather case. I paid less than $5, shipped. This fits the 1st gen Kindle Fire and will work with the 5th gen Fire Tablet with a little modification. The only difficulty with the Fire Tablet is that the power button is under one of the straps that holds the tablet in place.
