The prequel provides a chapter detailing each son and explained how each earned the title of Tarnished Saints. The book gives the reader enough information to make them want to have the entire series within reach to begin after finishing the sequel.
I look forward to beginning the first of the Tarnished Saints stories and reading through each son's lives as they unfold. I highly recommend this author to anyone who wants a great read that leaves you wanting more!
This is a collection of the antics, around Christmas-time, of the children of a strict and stern preacher. The troubles that they find are not unlike troubles most young eventually encounter, but they are told with a combination of humor and concern, with each finding resolution, oft with aid from an older sibling.
The story is well told, and a perfect selection for reading aloud with the family, having much content that bears discussion within that setting.
Five stars for its value as a family tool.
Unfortunately nobody is perfect and boys will be boys which results in a series of amusing, embarrassing, and often cringe worthy mishaps that befall each of the boys leading up to one very special Christmas that they will never forget. The Taylor house is filled with love and forgiveness prompting the Reverend Taylor to call his not-so-perfect sons his Tarnished Saints as they grow into manhood.
It is a thoroughly enjoyable and amusing read in which the author has perfectly captured the angst and longing of Thomas for his first car and the desire to impress his girlfriend with his new mobile status. At the end of this prequel, you will have the opportunity to read excerpts from the subsequent books in the Tarnished Saints Series which continues the story of each of the Taylor boys after they have grown up and have lives of their own. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series beginning with Book 1- "Doubting Thomas."
