Seriously - if you ever want to read tarot, you'll need this book.
In fact, my most recent post in my Tarot Blog was largely devoted to this excellent book. You can see it for yourself: [...]
I recommend this book highly. I wish it had been available when I was a new reader, it would have saved me years in the process of learning my craft. Thank You Mary, for all the work and dedication you put into it!
This isn't a book for someone who purely wants to learn to read Tarot. It's almost literally 97% rituals and exercises that, as someone who doesn't practice "Magic," I find completely irrelevant. True there are some spreads and at the end of the book what seems like the minimum explanation of the cards that Greer could get away with. The only real useful thing in the book is the technique she uses to get you "into" the card and get in touch with it but she has another book called 21 Ways to Read a Tarot Card that expands/focuses on this.
I've bought several other Tarot books, so it's not like I do not know what I'm talking about. If you like to practice rituals along with Tarot then this book is for you but if you're only interested in a workbook where you the focus is solely on learning Tarot and nothing else, I recommend Greer's 21 Ways to Read a Tarot Card or better yet (otherwise known as the best) Dusty White's The Easiest Way to Learn the Tarot- Ever!! and a "reference" book such as Tarot: Plain and Simple by Anthony Louis, 78 Degrees of Wisdom by Rachel Pollack, or The Complete Book of Tarot Reversals by Greer. Tarot for Life is also useful for using the Tarot as a tool for personal growth.
If you do not wish to get into anything other than Tarot, don't get this book. Take a look at Greer's other books though because she is a good writer, this book doesn't do her much justice in my humble opinion.
Update: I think I did not spend enough time with this workbook to really appreciate everything it has to offer. I decided to give it another try and I am updating my review to 5 Stars. Its very informative and offers knowledge I did not find anywhere else. In case you are having trouble connecting with Tarot for YourSelf at first please give it another try. I am so glad I did.
It is a great workbook to help you explore the Tarot and find your way to reading for yourself and others. I recommend this book to every person who is either just picking up a deck or looking for more exploration into Tarot.

If they taught Tarot at school, this would be the textbook,a must read for those studying the Tarot.
A further criticism is that because this book was devised as a workbook in which you could enter personal information there are lines and spaces throughout which push the formatting out of line. These gaps and lines are totally redundant in this version of the book and could be edited out to make the book easier to read in the e-edition. The consequence of this de-formatting is that sentences get cut up and disconnected, headings get spread across the page or two lines, or even two pages. It would also help in the reading if everything was justified to the left rather than some headings justified to spread across the page. It helps a bit if you hold your tablet in the portrait mode but some editing would improve the layout considerably. Lastly, one of the advantages of an e book is that you can link to websites and other information, unfortunately not all the links work...
It is a shame that these irritating factors are present, it interferes with the serious study this book deserves; as an e book it is not cheap and you would expect better quality of editing than is displayed here.
