Incredible Affordable Mic System!

All I can say is WOW! I've heard from other videographers that the DR-10L is an incredible lavalier mic system, but I'm shocked at how wonderful it really is! I normally shoot with a $1000 shotgun microphone and this is making me re-consider. The SD card and headphones are simply an added bonus, but the device itself is stellar. It's so compact, takes only one AAA battery and does a wonderful job picking up vocals. They're clean, crisp, and easy to edit in post production! I'm able to place under the speaker's shirt with no issues at all! The key there is using tape to create a mini shock mount between the mic and the person's skin to prevent rubbing between the mic and the person's shirt. I use it on auto levels and with the limiter on and it doesn't get crazy loud between vocals or anything like that, which is what i initially expected would happen. I'll be buying another one soon!

Just received my DR-10L PCM audio recorder, and it's pretty awesome. It's small, the menu and buttons are easy to use and the audio it records sounds great. I'm going to use these to record audio for live events and weddings. Having the option of recording another track at -6db lower is so nice. Truthfully I wasn't expecting much out of the included lavaliere mic, as I was planning on using some Sony Lav's that I already own. But I'm pleasantly surprised that in my testing, they sound just about as good as my Sony ECM-V1BMP Lav's, that retail for about $100. Once it's recording, all buttons are locked so there's nothing to mess up until you stop the recording. To say that the DR-10L is a good deal is an understatement, for the size and quality of the audio it records. This little audio recorder solves so many problems. Let's talk about versatility, the recorder has a headphone output too, you can use it to monitor levels before recording. You could run it inline with other equipment also; like recording a Lav before it goes out to a wireless transmitter; or use it to record a video shotgun mic and send the signal to the camera, acting as an attenuator if need be. This little device is a must have for video professionals in my opinion.
