Reginald is thrilled right away but Tierra is scared. Thanks to devastation from her childhood, she is terrified of getting attached to a mate and then loosing him. “One Thing on Her Mind by Sandra Damevski”
Hot little story about Simon and Grace. They both work at the same company and Simon has wanted Grace since he first met her but Grace isn't even aware that he exists until they end up spending time together at their friends wedding. They flirt outrageously from the moment they begin talking to one another. The sexual chemistry is off the charts, HOT!! While Grace makes a trip to the restroom, 2 women decide to try enticing Simon to spend time with them instead. Has all Grace's moves been for nothing? Has she been replaced that easily? Only one way to find out.
“Knight in Shining Combat Boots by Savannah Blaize”
Great short story about Harrison and Laura. He is riding the train to work when he spots Laura, who reminds him of his past love. At one of the train stops, a disheveled looking man gets on and starts waving around a knife, scaring the passengers. Going on instinct from his years in the military, he quickly disarms the man. When they get off the train, Harrison notices that Laura looks confused and asks if she's lost. When she asks him where a good place to eat is he tells her he works at a diner and is on his way there now, to come with him if she wishes. Harrison feels very drawn to Laura even though he's fighting it and is not sure if he wants her to join him or not.
“Unfreezing Lucy by Kim Cleary”
Short steamy romance about Simon and Lucy, aboard a ship in outer space, where they both work and live. Simon likes Lucy very much and has been asking her out for some time. Lucy has been turning him down every time because she has been deeply hurt by a past romantic relationship and fears Simon is just like that guy. After repeatedly rejecting Simon, Lucy decides to apologize to him for being so cold towards him but she can't find him anywhere. When she discovers where he is and that his life is in danger, will she realize she has feelings for him after all?
“Beyond a Glance by Bridget Kaye”
Sweet little story about Jake and Chloe, who both work for the same property management company. Chloe has had a crush on Jake for some time but makes sure it stays hidden. Jake so serious and distant all the time and Chloe has no idea how to draw him out. One day, they are both at a home inspection for one of their tenants that has been having a really difficult time and not been taking very good care of the inside and outside of the house. Jake is ready to kick her out but Chloe wants to help the woman get back on her feet. Jake grudgingly gives the tenant a chance. Chloe is busy helping, Maria, clean up her place the next day when, to her shock, Jake shows up to help. At one point, Chloe starts to fall and Jake catches her and ends up kissing her passionately. Then proceeds to tell Chloe he's no good at relationships and he never should have kissed her. Chloe is heartbroken and feels devastated when Jake later leaves without even saying goodbye and proceeds to have no contact with her. Was Jake just toying with her when he kissed her? She may never know.
“Tree Love by Cassandra O’Leary”
Wonderful, short love story about Natalia and Dan. They met in college and spent a lot of time together as friends and study partners. Natalia had very strong romantic feelings for Dan but never told him or acted on them until one day, while studying, she crawled into his lap and passionately kissed him. At first Dan returned her kiss then he gently pushed her away, kissed her on the forehead and left. Natalia never saw or heard from Dan again. Naturally, she was heartbroken. Ten years later, she works at the botanical gardens and is walking through the garden when, to her shock, right in front of her is Dan.
She's thrilled to see him and he seems quite happy to see her too, but she also feels conflicted. She is currently engaged to Ted, her boss. What should she do? She realizes that she never stopped loving Dan but what to do about Ted? And how does Dan feel about her?
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
Basically, I have a clear ranking for my top three stories in this, and the rest ranged from decent to really dire.
Disclaimer: There were two stories I skipped because they were written in 1st person POV, and one that I DNFed within two pages because I was already really uncomfortable with the power dynamics.
1. Love Interrupted by Lauren James
2. Unfreezing Lucy by Kim Cleary
3. Tree Love by Cassandra O'Leary
One thing I will say is that they definitely should have chosen a different story to start the anthology. The Michele Somers one wasn't even a romance, because *spoiler* the hero dies at the end! I definitely won't be reading that author again.
Also, a few of the stories needed better editors. Particularly the one where I was convinced the hero had murdered his former best friend and his girlfriend because of some weird phrasing! Very concerning.
I really wish there were more romance anthologies with short stories like this. Sometimes I just want a bite-sized piece, and these stories were a perfect length for that. And the three stories I mentioned above are proof positive that they can be good! I just wish this particular anthology had been more consistent in quality.

This was hard to rate. The stories are short so not enough plot or character development.Read more
