I love books with Dual POV's. It really adds a lot to the story when you see how both characters are feeling and growing.
Taste Test is a modern day Beauty and the Beast story...with a twist. In this book, Ella is the 'beast'. She's dealt with a lot of bad things in her life and has scars, inner and outer, that have left her very guarded.
Ethan is hired as a live in cook/security for Ella's uncle. Ethan has his own life issues, but he still finds himself attracted to Ella and wants to protect her.
I love that Ella and Ethan didn't have the 'instant-love' for each other. In fact, it was totally the opposite.
I look forward to reading anything that L.B. Dunbar writes!
The characters make this book and the author provides the perfect playground. Combined and you end up with a beautiful touching story of two survivors. Tasting life, love, peace and home in each other.
Ethan went to school to get away from home and always being the disappointment. When he partied to much and lost his scholarship he returned home, still hoping to find a way to follow his dream. Getting a mysterious job led him to living in a isolated home of a horror writer.
Ella was living with her uncle, hidden away from the world, as their way of protecting her from cruelty of people. When her uncle hired Ethan, she was not afraid to make him feel unwelcome.
As time went on Ethan was able to figure out some of the secrets that keep her hidden away. Would Ella finally accept Ethan friendship? Or will she stay hidden and locked away from the outside world?
L.B. Dunbar characters are relatable and draw the reader in. I can't wait to read the next book in this series and see what other works she is able to create
Ethan needed an escape from him home life, after taking a break from college and returning home to his parents, he hates seeing his father nightly, and it breaks his heart to watch his mother suffer from cancer, but he needs a job in order to return to school. Horror writer, Jacob Vincentia, was looking for a chef, but not just a chef, he needed someone that would respect his privacy and provide added security for his niece Ella, while living in his secluded lake house in the thick of the forest.
Ella Vincentia, hid from everyone, and had a safe house living with her uncle. Tough on the interior, yet with visible scars on the exterior, she pushed everyone away, until she met Ethan. She fought with him for awhile, until she started to see that maybe everyone isn't the bad guy.
L.B. Dunbar is a fantastic storyteller and once again I really enjoyed the beautiful writing style. This story is it's own and can be read as a standalone but some of the familiar characters from the first book do resurface a bit. The setting is dark and descriptive, and once again the author pulls in bits and pieces from fairy tales but puts a new twist on them. This book was a bit hotter than the last and I enjoyed every bit of it. The ending had me on pins and needles and held my attention every step of the way! I can't wait to grab the next novel in the series.
*This is intended for an audience 18 and over due to sexual content and violence.
At first I couldn't see how this connected to book one but as the story evolved, it flowed perfectly. I loved seeing little moments from various characters in Sound Advice.
LB Dunbar has a way of keeping you on the edge of your seat with baited breath.
I found myself in tears, white knuckling my kindle, sighing, anxious...who knew you could have such a roller coaster of emotions right til the end and be content when it was all over?

These two. Ethan needs to find his own life, without doing what others want. Ella needs to find her way, period.Read more
