You're going to fall in love so hard with Seth. And I think you're going to see a lot of yourself in Lottie. It's a crazy adventure but it leads to an unbelievable happily ever after these two characters absolutely deserve.
I really really think you're all going to love this book as much as I did. It's passionate, heartfelt, and has some fun moments as well. It's the whole package. You should absolutely read it.
Seth Phoenix knows what it feels like to lose everything and work hard to get it all back again. Working as one of the best male escorts in the country, some could say he has everything he could ever want; money, looks and constant female attention. He would have agreed, but then he found himself completely captivated by a beautiful and innocent woman. So he does something unexpected: he marries her. Lottie Cahan is a self-professed geek who loves nothing more than delving into a good book. A student at Yale University, she knows how important it is to work hard in life. So for her 21st birthday, her best friend decides it’s time for her to have some fun. Heading to Las Vegas for a night of fun, Lottie goes against everything she believes in: she marries a virtual stranger. What she doesn’t know is that this stranger was hired to ensure her birthday was one she would never forget. Despite how fast their relationship blossoms, Seth and Lottie are convinced they are destined to be together forever. But as one secret threatens to tear them apart, one of them realises the world is a much smaller place than they ever could have imagined. Will they be able to move forward? Or will long abandoned memories come crashing to the surface?
I like my romances with added mystery and wow-factor, and A Taste of Utopia certainly delivers this. As a fan of L Duarte’s work, I knew I would be in for a treat. Little did I know just what was in store. I found myself re-reading parts and taking long breaks to sit and think ‘no way can this be happening’. And that’s all in the first few chapters. There is no way I’m spoiling this in my review because I want you to experience the same emotions I did. A Taste of Utopia will head in a direction you are not expecting. While full of passion, heat and a lot of steam, it will shock you with the difficult issues it tackles. Be prepared for a wild ride of emotions. And you’ll see I mentioned the level of heat in this book. It is off the scale. If you’re looking for some seriously sexy scenes, look no further. This book will not only satisfy you in that way, but also by delivering an edge of your seat, thrilling and heart-warming read.
And as for your leading couple? I love them! Lottie is a girl that is relatable to so many of us. A bookworm, geeky and shy character, she is believable, real and so easy to fall in love with. I for one long to have her as my new best friend (move over Chloe), that’s if I can tear her away from Seth! What a man. He not only knows how to please a woman, he has the charm to go with it. He’s confident, sexy and completely loveable despite the dark place his story starts. I love him and Lottie together so when that make-or-break moment hit, I was nervous. I know you will be too, but it’s easy to judge characters when we’re not the ones going through what they are. So go easy on Lottie, and remember how much you love her! Oh, and make sure you keep your eyes peeled for some of the supporting characters.
Overall, A Taste of Utopia is another fantastic read from an author I am beginning to become obsessed with. With an addictive plot, exciting characters and tonnes of emotion, you are in for a ride with this book. I cannot recommend it enough, so get reading before someone spoils it for you!
Once again I have enjoyed this story by L Duarte. It’s a story of Redemption, Insta-Love, Self-Discovery, Growth and Acceptance.
…”love that is complete and unconditional never dies or withers. It just lives on in the chambers of our heart. When you decide to love someone, love despite the cracks and dents, despite the stains and imperfections. Just love, because it will endure it all.”
The definition of Utopia is: an imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect. Key word being “imagined” because not everything is always as it seems. Especially in the small small world we live in.
Seth Phoenix is someone who overcame his past by creating a new life. A life that has many facets and secrets. He is willing to work through the layers of a woman to get to the good stuff. Lottie Cahan is a 21 year old who studies hard and is a self-admitted nerd with a loving family. Lottie is not a “Barbie doll beauty” and while gleaning with confidence, at times feels shy and self-conscious. One fabulous night Seth and Lottie meet. They have an un-forgetful evening that changes their lives forever.
This is going to be a no spoiler review so, as with my previous L Duarte review, I’m going to talk about the high points of what I liked about this book.
The way L Duarte writes is poetry “Emotions I don’t recall ever feeling are carving a place inside my chest. These feelings are like corn kernels bursting open when heated. They tumble and bump over one another in a fast and unorderly series of pops. A cosmic explosion of feelings. And my chest is expanding, swelling to accommodate them after all”.
I like how not everything is as it seems. Life is not all neat and tied up on a pink bow. It can be messy and heartbreaking and challenging.
Taste of Utopia has a tie in to L Duarte’s previous book Fall Out Girl but is a standalone that stands on its own merit.
