I am sorry but this book fell short of what I expected from this author. I normally love her work but I struggled to get through this one. I have never felt compelled to write a review before but I thought I owed it to the readers out there to pass this one by. It was much too long with a lot of boring filler and loose ends throughout....The love story wasn't believable and the characters in it was just bland. Very disappointed that I took the time to finish thinking it would get better.

I enjoyed this book. It wasn't anything "heavy" nor was it a "can't wait to get back to it" story. The characters were a little superficial so I didn't care what happened to them. Hmmm...maybe I should have given this a two-star. No, I think I'll save the two-star for the book I started to read, "Fancy Dancer". More on that in another review. If you are looking for some light reading to wind down for the day or something to read while on vacation, check this out.

These books I have taken on my cruises to read while vacationing. Get's you from beginning. The prices to buy a slighted used book is incredible. Am I going to buy new ones for just my vacations but also my home? Heck yeah! Best thing since sliced bread!!

This being the first book I have read by Fern Michaels, I don't want to jump to calling this a literary gem. In fact, having read a few captions of a select couple of reviews by some of her more devoted readers, the verdict seems to be that this is one of her weaker novels. That being said, if this truly is a weak publication from this author, I look forward to reading her masterpiece because I enjoyed this book very much. While the first few chapters had me a little bored, it really picked up the pace just in time, so for those who have not read this yet and are debating whether or not to do so, be warned. If you like a story that moves fast from the get-go, this will disappoint. However, I will NOT go so far to say that the slow beginning is enough not to read this book, because like I said before, once it hits the ground, it hits it running and doesn't stop until the end.

I make a point when writing a review to distinguish whether a book is a "romance" or a "love story." Yes, there is a difference, as I have discovered many a time when I check out a book that says it is one and turns out to be the other. For me, a love novel is to a romance novel as what water is to oil. A love story is a novel that deals with numerous themes to which the romance level can serve as more of a foundation. Romance novels simply take the love aspect and dedicate every chapter of the book to it to the point of nausea. Characters barely have any kind of demension, and any other themes or characters serve merely as wall paper to a story that consists mainly of exaggerated sex scenes and nothing more. This book is, I'm sorry to say to all of you anticipating otherwise, the former.

I don't know why, but every so often, Fern Michaels seems to think she needs to write a "Historical Romance" and I hate them.

I have read everything she has published and normally I would recommend her but not in this case.
I loved the Sister Hood Series most and like the Godmother Series too. These are her best

I wish she would just tell us in advance that this is her "Historical Romance" so I could avoid wasting my time and money on this.
Please, Fern, write what you do best! This is at the bottom of my list.

This was an excellent book from cover to cover. Fern Michaels is a favorite author of mine and I am never disappointed in her offerings. To Taste the Wine was one of her best and I would certainly recommend it. I purchase all of my books through Amazon and have yet to be displeased with any of them.

I enjoyed the book, I thought I had read it. The heart aches that they both went thru to find happiness.
There hasn't been a Fern Michaels that I haven't enjoyed.
