Having heard so much about Tex Mex and the love Americans have for this style of cooking but not knowing much about it living abroad I just had to purchase this book to have a go and see for myself. I must admit the combination of Mexican, one of my favourite cuisines, and I assume that extra zing to the meals are the Texan flavours coming through are delicious. I might be a novice at this style of cooking however I know good food when I taste it and Ms Richards did an amazing job putting this cookbook together. Being a beginner, I found the recipes extremely easy to follow, and as a visual person who prefers illustrations of the product I didn’t find it much of a hindrance, which was a bonus and based on the simplicity of Ms. Richards descriptions

I would very much recommend this cookbook to all that like to vary the flavours, tastes, cuisines in their daily lives that like me like to test and taste new and interesting recipes.

I plan to purchase others in the Tex-Mex series as I was so pleased with these recipes and want to explore beyond breakfast…not that I leave these recipes just for breakfast…Yummy!

At first glance Donna Richards' Tasty Tex-Mex Recipes: Breakfast Edition (Tasty Tex Mex Recipes) is very well done, nicely organized with everything laid out in an interactive Table of Contents that interfaces with the Kindle Navigation Menu. Actually trying to use the Table of Contents located just inside the cover, however, will take you not to the recipe that you chose but to a second table of contents, where you will have to choose the recipe a second time.

Donna has put together a very nice collection but I must say that I was rather surprised that she included a copyright notice, since copyright meant nothing whatever to her when she dropped by the Food Network site and picked up Marcela Vallodolid's recipe for Huevos Rancheros Divorced-Style (Huevos Rancheros Divorciados) from the Buenos Dias Buffet episode of Marcela's show "Mexican Made Easy." Donna calls Marcela's recipe "Divorced-Style Huevos Rancheros (Huevos Rancheros Divorciados).

Copyright also seemed to mean nothing whatever to Richards when she included Breakfast Tortas from Taste of Home (Donna's Mexican Breakfast Tortas), Authentic Huevos Rancheros from Allrecipes (Donna uses the same name), Chilaquiles II from Allrecipes (Donna calls this just "Chilaquiles"), or Scrambled Eggs with Chorizo from Taste of Home (Donna's Scrambled Eggs and Chorizo).

No - that isn't all. I just got tired of typing. Taste of Home's Southwestern Eggs Benedict appears in Donna's book as "Eggs Benedict, Southwestern Style." Donna's "Mexican Style Bacon & Egg Scramble" is Fiesta Scrambled Eggs from Taste of Home.
