But, I decided to take the plunge and read The Tattooed Angel by Diana Douglas. I read it in three nights, which should say something about how much I like it. Surprised? I should say.
What is best about this book is that the characters jump off the page. Though there was one character interacting with several characters from a completely different time, they mostly stayed true to themselves and their time (though I have to admit, I probably don't know too much about being a woman in the 21st century or do I know anything about being alive in the 17th century). It was interesting to see customs, culture, attitude, and some bad language (from the modern woman) clash.
What made the book even better for me was that the romance didn't get in the way of the time travel aspect of the book. The Tattooed Angel handled the sex/romance/love angle of the story well for someone who is not a fan of the romance genre. But, romance fans, don't be drawn away from indulging in this book as it has plenty of romance elements.
The only criticism I might have is that the transition to a less modern time ( foods, illness, smells, sounds, lack of light) could have been emphasized more, but that is the fan of time travel in me speaking out when I understand that this book blended time travel and romance. And you know what, it really did blend the two genres spectacularly.
It's a great read, a great story, with great characters, and it is certainly poised for a few sequels, which I am looking forward to reading.
Nothing more nothing less...

It will be very difficult to live in the chauvinistic world for a 21st century woman.
