This is a real eye-opener of a book if you are currently renting or are considering renting your home, or a room in your home. In fact, I'd go as far as saying that this book should be high on your list if you are only considering the possibility of listing a room in your home on Airbnb or other place for short-term rental. We actually changed our minds after reading this book, and decided not to rent a room in your house as a short-term rental.
This is well-written. Everything is clear and concise. Topics are discussed that I hadn't even considered when thinking of starting to do short-term rentals. That's what makes the book so great. It really covers all the bases and will be very helpful to you.
The only negative is that reading this may cause you to become frustrated at the thought of starting a short-term rental business when you realize how much tax complexity comes with the effort, but I wouldn't advise undertaking such a business without reading this book.
NOTE: This isn't exactly a book that tells you HOW to start a short-term-rental business or how to work with Airbnb or the others - if that's what you want you will be disappointed. This focuses on the TAX ramifications of such a business, but it's not as dry as that sounds, and it's great information.
HIGHLY recommended. Helped us go into the tax season with confidence that we we can handle without hiring a professional!
