This was actually my first book by this author and I completely loved it. This is another book in Dreamspinners new series called “Dreamspun Desires.” I already read a couple and have loved every one of them. This author was able to take this book and weave it into a story that was completely different. Don’t get me wrong I’ve read books with the general theme of this one (man being forced to marry to gain an inheritance) but this author was able to come up with a new turn to this one. That was great because I really hate reading the same story but just by a different author.

I immediately fell in love with Taylor and Ally and the denial between the two was typical but amazing in the way it came across. There was humor and eventually love between the two men. This book had everything you needed to just keep turning the pages until you finished it. This is a definite recommendation to all who love MM romance.

“Taylor held out his hand, and Alessandro grasped it, firm, warm, and silky. That streak of heat shot up his arm and dove to his b again. Holy merde, it was like he’d given his attraction permission, and it now knew just what it wanted.”

4 stars!

Taylor is on his way to collect his fifty-million dollar inheritance, but there’s a catch. He has to marry a woman in order to claim it. The problem?? Well Taylor is gay. So what’s he to do….he heads to Vegas and marries the maid at his hotel Ally May. But not all is what it seems with “Ally” because Ally is a man named Alessandro. Can these two keep up the charade in order to get the inheritance?

This book was quirky and fun to read. It was a lot cuter than I thought it was going to be that’s for sure. I loved Ally so much, I think she’s one of my all time favorite characters to date!!

CONTAINS SPOILERS:

ARC provided for honest review.

Taylor Maid is Tara Lain’s first offering under the Dreamspinners Press Dreamspun Desires line. As one person correctly put it, "it's like Harlequin for boys.” Because these are feel-good stories, the angst level is relatively low. But, it wouldn't be a Tara Lain novel without some angst, and Taylor Maid is no exception. Taylor is 24 and about to inherit $50 million under his grandfather's will. There's just one catch, a provision that Taylor never paid attention to: he must have a wife by his 25th birthday in order to inherit. Suffice it to say, Taylor hasn't been prepared for that eventuality. He learns about the clause on his Birthday Eve, then goes through some extraordinary lengths in a quest to fulfill his grandfather’s wishes. Now, to be fair, his reasons for needing his inheritance are pretty altruistic. Greed is not the motivating factor for him as it is for his father, who wants the money for himself.

Enter Alessandro Macias. This devastatingly beautiful man is on the run, undercover, dressing as a woman to escape his father. Like Taylor, Alessandro, who goes by Ally for most of the book, is being ushered to marry another influential family so his father can further build his empire. Ally wants no part of it. When Taylor shows up at the hotel Ally is working in, there is the attraction, which causes Taylor no short measure of confusion. How can he be interested in a female, when he's never been attracted to a woman in his life? But when his original plan for marriage falls through, spectacularly, Taylor takes a chance to ask for Ally's hand in marriage. Now Alessandro is faced with the question of continuing to pretend to be female, or letting Taylor know the truth.

Tara Lain has written another winner. This is almost one of those "Once Upon a Time" stories that are frot with villains and trevail but through it all love wins in the end. Another great read from a talented author.

Very enjoyable reading!! Yes, the story-line is a little farfetched, with Ally pretending to be a woman totally convincingly, and everyone (except for another trans) believes it. The plot has a lot of twists and turns, and all ends well. I wish some of the minor characters are more developed -- Izzy Smith the lawyer, for one. I like the way Marco Mecias turns out, supporting and loving, despite the earlier heavyhanded handling of his son. Leave it to him to put Taylor's father in his place! That Donald guy, the snake-like lawyer, is disgusting -- I want to smack him when he goes to the condo in the middle of the night and harass Taylor and Ally. Too bad the writer did not write him off with an ending he deserves! All in all, it is a fun book to read, even though the imaginative plot is a bit creative!! :)

* I received an ARC through Love Bytes Reviews for a fair and honest review.
Taylor Fitzgerald has just found out that for him to gain his inheritance that his grandfather left he must be married before his 25th birthday. Taylor turns 25 tomorrow!
As soon as he overhears his father’s conversation Taylor has to completely rethink his lifestyle and his current choices. If he hadn’t already committed the money, he wouldn’t even entertain the idea of marrying a woman! Taylor is as gay as they come, he’s out and he’s proud of it! But, in order to fulfil his obligations, he has to find a woman to marry him.
When hotel maid Ally May is approached by the most incredibly handsome man she’s seen and he asks her to marry him? She thinks it’s a joke until he offers her a million dollars to stay married to him for a year. Ally refuses right up to the moment she sees a couple of big beefy men who scare the crap out of her then she decides that, yes she’ll marry him.
Taylor can’t believe his luck when Ally May, the maid at the hotel he’s staying at agrees to marry him. He can’t explain why he’s attracted to her, he’s gay. He thinks he might be coming down with something! After the ceremony they catch a plane back to San Francisco where Taylor lives, they’ve barely put their feet on the ground when Taylors best friends invite them both to dinner and a show at their club. This is when Taylor askes Ally to sing for him as she has the most incredible voice he’s ever heard.
It’s after Ally meets Taylors friends, one who happens to be a drag queen and recognises the same quality’s in Ally May! When he rings Taylor to ask him does he realise he is married to a man? Taylor is actually overjoyed, hurt that Ally hadn’t told him but incredibly relieved that he was in fact still a gay man.
