In regards to the body fat and water percentages, I too initially struggled getting a reading at first, but that was because I didn't know how to use it. If you step on the scale by itself (without pushing any buttons), you ONLY get the weight measurement (which is good if you just want a quick weight measurement or if your pregnant (you shouldn't be using the body fat feature if you're pregnant). If you want the body fat and water measurement you need to use the scale using the programmed features. The scale allows you to "program" up to four people by programming the person age, gender and height. There are a few buttons to program the scale, once you program it, all you'll need to do is push one button (it's that easy). I'm a household of two, so I currently only have person 1 and 2 programmed, but four seems to be plenty for a small family. All you do is push the button until you get to your number (If you are person 2, press the button twice), when it says "2" on it, just step on the scale barefoot when your feet are damp and wait a few seconds. The scale will read you your weight, body fat, and water readings each twice. Its important to have your feet damp/wet and to make connection with the metal plates on the scale.Read more ›
Anyway, the thing is classy, reasonable priced, and works good for regular weight measurement.
First the scale does not read anything further than my weight. Not bodyfat or water content. Next day it says Error 5--so the Taylor ppl tell me the scale can't read my body fat or water content. Need more water.
So next day I drink 7 cups and the scale that nite still can't read my water or bodyfat number. Taylor ppl says I drank too much water.
So next day the Taylor ppl says I must drink 2 C. water one hour before weighing. So I did. Still nothing.
By now this fiasco has gone on for 8 days. So when I once again call Taylor for help, she tells me to change the height up 4 inches taller than the reality--I am 5'7"--I had to reprogram the scale to 5'11--and then step on the scale. Now it gives a reading! This shows her the scale really does work! What do you think of that? So if you're a 5'11" 76 year old woman this is the scale for you! I think I'm going to forward this review to Taylors.
Also it does seem a bit fragile since its glass and the way the base is built so I don't just get on it any kind of way. So other than that and the error sign its a good scale especially for the price.

I bought one of these a year ago. It was working fine until a couple of weeks ago. Then my weight began to be off. It's now off by 50 lbs. Would not buy a Taylor product again.Published 16 months ago by R. Hake
