The Te of Piglet . . . in which a good deal of Taoist wisdom is revealed through the character and actions of A. A. Milne's Piglet from the bestselling author of The Tao of Pooh

Piglet? Yes, Piglet. For the better than impulsive Tigger? or the gloomy Eeyore? or the intellectual Owl? or even the lovable Pooh? Piglet herein demonstrates a very important principle of Taoism: The Te--a Chinese word meaning Virtue--of the Small.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

This topical Taoist manifesto, a sequel to Hoff's bestselling The Tao of Pooh , was a 21-week PW bestseller.
Copyright 1993 Reed Business Information, Inc.

Review

"[Hoff's} Taoist manifesto distills ageless personal and political wisdom, relaying an ecological message we ignore at our peril." -- Publishers Weekly

"In the original, as you may recall, Hoff had an Idea: that Winnie-the-Pooh could be used to explain Taoism, the ancient Chinese way of balance. Now, as luck would have it, Pooh's buddy Piglet turns out to be the perfect embodiment of Te, the Taoist term for virtue, which is attained through sensitivity, modesty, and smallness." -- Kirkus Reviews

If you love Winnie The Pooh, and have ventured into the "Tao of Pooh," also by Benjamin Hoff, the hilarity of A.A. Milne's wonderful characters and delightful drawings by Ernest A. Shepard, continues with the "Te of Piglet." Hoff weaves precious Tao teachings into the humorous encounters between the characters, offering the reader insights into our own human condition for our reflection.

Enjoyed reading this book. However, I did not keep it when doing a space clearing--some things just have to go! There are Buddhist undertones which I did not find objectionable, others might.

I like the way of teaching the Tao thru Piglet's simplicity and childlike questions.
It goes off to politics, which as right as they are, I don't think they enhance the teaching. Maybe I missed the whole point.
Still enjoy the book though and will revisit my favorite pages.

I have always been curious about this book.

When a neighbor's son returned for the summer break from college, I happened to be in her driveway, speaking about a fence renovation between our properties. When he exited from his automobile while dragging his backpack behind him, the Te of Piglet dropped out of his backpack. When he picked it up, I asked him about it and he replied that the book deserved a read - he really enjoyed it!

So, after looking around for a copy - I found one on Amazon at an incredible price.

I have read the book and I found it a wonderful read. I recommend it to young and old.
