The SilverOnyx Portable Glass Tea Infuser is a stylish and modern infuser that offers many uses from steeping loose leaf tea to smoothies. This bottle has a removable infuser for either tea or fruit, and it's double-walled design keeps your drink hot on your way to work. Using special borosilicate glass, you can be sure that this bottle is safe for both hot or cold liquids and will not impart any unwanted flavor into your drink, such as with stainless steel travel mugs.

Width/Diameter: 2.83" (72 mm)
Volume: 14 oz (414 mL)
Net. Weight: 1 lb (492 g)

HOW TO USE
1 - Remove base and filter from infuser.
2 - Place your favorite loose leaf tea (or fruit) in the filter.
3 - Snap filter back into bottle (once it snaps into place it will be secure).
4 - Poor water into bottle over contents in filter (for hot tea, use near-boiling water).
5 - Replace base and let the beverage steep/infuse.¹
6 - To remove the tea/fruit, turn bottle over, remove base and remove filter by pulling on attached handle - then discard contents² and replace base.
¹You can leave the contents in the filter as long as you wish, however over-steeping tea leaves may lead to tea that is bitter and astringent.
²Loose leaf teas may be used multiple times before loosing their flavor, however it is not recommended to use after 8 hours.
Top customer reviews
**I have had this infuser for about 45 days now. I use this bottle 5 days a week and hand wash (no sponge) every time.
-The clear glass look, multiple people commented on it
-Since you could open it from both ends it really is easier to clean
-Airtight! (*Does become a little difficult to open sometimes because there is a suction effect with hot teas)
-Only holds 14oz
-It is glass so when you put hot water/tea in the bottle it is really hot to the touch ('ouch')
-Made of glass so was concerned about dropping and breaking it (*fix: bought the sleeve = peace of mind)
-Unfortunately the edges of the top lid have started to peel off, I am assuming this is because the steel is lined with a thin layer of plastic
-**It is NOT waterproof! It was when I got it but not anymore. I have tried to flip the rubber seal but the situation is still the same. This is because there is a space between the rubber seal and the actual lid which is causing the leakage. It leaks from the bottom and the top lid if the infuser is tilted even a little bit. I do add sugar to my tea so when the tea spills the outside of the infuser does get sticky. This leads to a waste of time to clean up and lost tea!
I really liked this infuser but it has already started leaking, pretty badly, to the point where I have to keep it upright 100% of the time or I risk spillage. And it's barely been 2 months! Not worth $30.
*I will continue to use it until I buy a different infuser or get tired of wiping spills :(
**Other info. The foam base is still intact, has not peeled of yet. I have only tried it with tea bags and not loose leaves. It came securely packaged (with bubble wrap). If you're thinking about whether to buy the sleeve or not, buy it. If you use it for black tea, like me, be aware that black tea will leave tea stain over time on the interior of the top and bottom stainless steel lids, rubber seals and the strainer (Pretty much everything except the glass). I use tea bags from The Republic of Tea. And in case anyone was wondering, it holds a whole can of soda perfectly and since it is airtight it will keep the CO2 from escaping :)
-Solid glass construction (very durable)
-The lids seal well and have a great metal finish
-The glass is two layers thick for great insulation
-The air between the layers does not fog up (excellent construction)
-Easy to fill with tea leaves (or even a tea pouch)
-Lastly, VERY easy to clean by hand or by machine.
- The product leaked at first, but after contact with the seller they responded within hours to let me know that it is very possible the manufacturer installed the rubber gaskets in the lids upside down. I flipped them and this solved the problem
I would 10/10 recommend this product to friends and family as it is a great deal for a great product and the seller is very agreeable and helpful.
The steeping went fine, but a word of caution, filling up the cage all the way will result in a STRONG cup of tea. Think cup of tea on the river Thames in England on a Saturday morning rather than something you might find being sampled at Teavana. Personally, I like a smooth Earl Grey, so I only fill it to half and let it steep for a few minutes. As a fan of sci-fi this bottle fits right in on my desk with my 'Tea, Earl Grey, Hot'.
If you only have access to a Keurig at home/work you can fill this up by holding it at an angle but an electric kettle would be more advisable.
The shipping container was huge and protected the bottle well.
Update: SilverOnyx Customer Support commented on my review within minutes and instructed me how to fix the problem. Both silicone gaskets were on the top side and none on the bottom, where the infuser is. A factory assembling error. Once I moved one of the gaskets to where it belongs, it all works perfectly. So, it's looks, style, functionality AND excellent customer service: FIVE Stars!
1- It was packaged very well. Shipped from seller and not Prime so I was thinking it would take awhile to get to me, but I got this surprisingly fast, in just two days. For once I'm glad an item is shipped by seller and not Amazon- while I definitely love Amazon Prime, sometimes things aren't packed very well, especially delicate items like glass.
2- It looks very nice and sleek.
3- The metal tea infuser seems more durable than the other glass infuser bottle I had. No sharp edges. I like that you can attach or detach it at will.
4- Easy to clean as both ends come off. Also, glass tends to not stain, unlike other materials/bottles.
1- At first I thought it was neat to have the bottom piece come off too, but because the bottom piece can come off, the bottom is not a closed bottom like other glass bottles. If you don't twist it tight enough, it will leak, and if you twist it too tight, it is hard to untwist later when you need to remove the infuser.
