The sound is a little rounder and warmer though the PS Audio DL3, but without the resolution of running it direct (resolution in this case is attack, front-to-back layering, and stereo separation where instruments and voices are not clustered in spots, but spread out in the sound stage).
For $400 and change, I'm pretty happy with this as a transport. I specifically wanted the iPod in in to replace a Pure dock that I was using and I can say, without a doubt, it is an improvement in both convenience and performance; noticeably in the lower octaves there is more slam and the mids have more presence.
This is not a WARM sounding unit. It's very resolving, so be careful if you are running a bright system already.
Super happy with this as a transport as it is an improvement over my previous Pure Doc, DVD player, and Roku into TV configurations.

The TEAC CD-H750B really has more definition than my previous pioneer PD207.
