Everything arrived in good shape, the Teac carton inside the larger, padded Amazon box. The multi-language manual is clear and easy to follow, and setup took just minutes, not hours. I have played back recordings in Normal, Chrome and Metal tape modes, and all three project solid bass; the latter two have a lot more bloom and extension on the high end. The Dolby noise reduction works just fine, so much so that I have to strain to discern any tape hiss at all. The adjustable reverse function works as advertised: you can play one cassette in both directions or set up a continuous loop so that each side plays in both directions--very helpful for three-hour operas. If one side is shorter than the other and there is prolonged quiet, you can always fast-forward to the end or just get up and take a snack or bathroom break while waiting for the next side to start up. Although recording will not be a big deal for me, everything is laid out logically and the keys are very responsive, as is the battery-powered remote control. The sound level meters and tape counters are easy to read, and there is a handy feature if you want to return to a particular song or passage. Just mark the spot by the count, click, and you get an encore.Read more ›
I thought I would try the ion usb cassette deck, the tape dragged and the frequency response sucked. Sent it back too!
Now I have a great tape deck! This brings back the quality of deck that I was used to.
Smooth eject tape door, noise reduction, play and record from both sides, quality buttons all around.
BUY this deck, it is TOTALLY worth every penny.
Unfortunately I cannot say the same so far as the quality of hardware here is concerned. Over the seven months I have used this recorder there have been far too many incidents where the tape gets jammed up and unwinds inside the roller mechanism. This has chewed up several of my tape recordings, unfortunately. Yes it is true this does occur with tape machines, especially as they get older, and I have owned quite a few in the past for experience. Yet this one has failed far too many times, especially for a newer machine with less than a years use. Another problem, one of the tape drives has stopped working. When I attempt to play, rewind, or anything else, it will start for a few seconds to attempt running then shut itself off. I intend to hopefully find some service for this problem with the tape recorder machine that is supposedly covered by a one year warranty.
I bought this machine to replace a dual auto reverse Technics HX Pro machine that had outstanding quality. In fact I bought that dual tape deck recorder back around 1993 and it worked fine with no problems and excellent performance for well over 15 years. Rarely did that machine ever chew up a tape or get caught in the inside drive mechanism over the course of the first 15 years of use. Over the last 5 years the machine has become too worn out to use, eventually the tape heads wore out so bad that the flutter and noise started making the recorder useless yet despite this wear and depreciation I still can use the playback one way in reverse.Read more ›

It is great to be able to listen to all of the old cassettes I made over 30 years ago. So it will do until I can figure out how to convert those cassettes to an iPod.Published 16 days ago by dande1too
I had this unit from 2012 until June of 2016. It was never really sartisfactory. Rewind and Fast forward are slow. It was always eating tapes, even after I cleaned the heads. Read morePublished 16 days ago by Thomas R. Murnan
I DID test this cassette deck out when I first bought this discontinued version a year ago for 199 dollars. It sounded very good, no problems. Read morePublished 4 months ago by DRM

Works great. The only thing I wasn't completely satisfied with is the high speed dubbing mode. High speed dubbing only cuts the dubbing time in half, and the sound quality is not... Read morePublished 9 months ago by Will Cragoe
