About the Author
Brian Leaf, M.A., is the author of thirteen books, including Misadventures of a Garden State Yogi. Brian graduated from Georgetown University in 1993 with a BA in business, English, and theology, and in 1999 he completed a master’s degree at Lesley College, specializing in yoga and ayurveda. He lives in Northampton, Massachusetts, with his wife and two sons.
I love this book! I've recommended it to several of my friends. You don't have to read it in one sitting. You don't have to do yoga to love this book. As a matter of fact, I had a back injury a few years ago that prevents me from doing yoga. The insights contained on these pages will benefit you greatly if you perform yogic exercises, but you will gain tremendous insight without doing yoga, nonetheless. I don't know if the author was aware of this when he crafted this book. On each page an action or thought is provided that will help deepen your self-awareness. I would recommend this book for anyone. Do yourself a favor and purchase it for yourself and someone you love.
An absolute gift! I love this book! There is a lot of humor and a chance to play in it but also powerful tools for enhancing your relationship to your practice. Transformative (but also fun!) Fantastic.
I have been a Yoga Teacher for 12 years and always looking for simple ways to add prompts or themes to my class. What I love about this book is it's simplicity - life is very complicated off the mat so this is refreshing. A favorite Yoga Teacher Gina Caputo has a hashtag #sincerenotserious when she describes her practice, this book has fun silly activities or ideas that make you smile. Usually a book takes me months to plod through, this one I finished in a day because it made me happy.
If you want a smile buy this book, Namaste from NJ Beach YOGA
I received my book a week or so ago and I haven't put it down!! I love the creativeness this book encourages!!! Each day I randomly pick a page and use that for my intention of that day!! I would highly recommend this book!!!! Thank you Brian Leaf for collecting all this wisdom in one book.
This book is an incredible tool to not only help "beef up" your yoga practice, but the suggestions and activities Brian Leaf suggests are also applicable for off the mat too. I'll employ these suggestions in the office as well. 👍🏼
I highly recommend this book. It's more of a workbook filled with fun ideas, rather than an informative style book about yoga. But if you think of it, we ALL have different practices in forms of yoga. This book will help you developed a more mindful practice!
We just received Brian's book in the mail and I already love it. I only needed to read a few pages before I 'dropped into my heart'. I can't wait to really dive into the book and utilize the prompts. Great work Brian, Bravo!
Don't even flip this book from the front to the back. Get to any page and you will either giggle or appreciate the wisdom or find yourself wanting to do the actionable items. It is cute and amusing as it is meaningful and simple. If you teach, take, or believe in Yoga, you HAVE GOT TO get this book! This will definitely be in my top list to read from time to time, and to gift to my fellow Yogis. I am going to class today and I am doing one actionable item. :) Good job, Brian Leaf, for gathering these minds together and coming up with such a unique piece of work. Bravo! And, of course, Namaste. :)
Whether you have been practicing yoga for a long time or are brand new, this book offers prompts for insights and inquiry for anyone wishing to deepen their practice both on and off the mat or meditation cushion. I highly recommend it -- I think we can all use some support and inspiration from time to time. This is the perfect tool and resource to use daily, weekly or when needed. In fact, I think it would be highly insightful to complete a prompt and then refer to it down the road and seeing how your answers/perspective have changed.
