I bought this for my classroom a few weeks ago and put it up right before we started a revision of a writing project (I teach middle school language arts). My kids were fighting over the chance to go look at the words. Several of them took the time to start writing it all down so I just typed it all up and have given a copy to each student to have in their binders with their other writing tools. My English Language Learners are REALLY getting use out of it. Weaknesses: The text is a little small, but I don't know how they could have made it bigger. Also, the reproducable on the back has too much shading. Our copier would have made a mess of it so I had to type it and format it myself to have a take-away resource for my kids.

I teach 8th grade English and I get tired of seeing everything described as "good," "bad," "happy," and "sad." Using a thesaurus is great, but oftentimes I have 8th graders using words that no one else in the world uses! This is an excellent resource; I laminated it (it is on heavy cardstock) and stuck it on the wall. During writing, I have kids lined up to check it out. As some of the reviews note, it is small, but it has a ton of information on it. In order to make a version visible from all over the classroom, it would have to be ridiculously huge.

I bought this for my classroom so that I can expose students to synonyms for common words. However, the text could be bigger this would make it easier to read from across the classroom. Also, the product arrived bent/distorted...it might have been rolled but was not secured by a rubber band so it was bounced around in the box with other (heavier)items and I am still trying to straighten in out 5 days later. :(

I LOVE to have this in my classroom. During writing, students referred to this chart. During class discussions, students referred to this chart. It is an absolute delight to have in the classroom. I also typed it up on Microsoft word so that each student can have it in their writing folder to have an easier access to this lovely chart. The back of the chart also had some good suggested activities, I copied those before hanging it up on the wall in my classroom.

The content of this poster is fairly good, but it is written so small that it is not very useful for students to actively use in the classroom.

Got this for home use with my 7 yr old who has autism. Trying to expand his vocabulary and it is working wonders! The bright colors attract his attention and he will read all the words in a column before getting distracted with something else and uses a word later on in the evening. It has been very helpful.

wonderful chart to assist student with composing more descriptive sentences. The poster is printed on reverse side in 81/2X11 size for teachers to copy and distribute to students . My students store their own copy in their writing folders. Three more worksheets using these descriptive words are also on back for teachers to copy for use as homework or independent activity.

Sick of hearing "like", "awesome", and "cool"? I think we all are.

This is a fun way to challenge your child (or student) to use words they already know, but don't regularly use. I put this up in the hallway outside my step-daughters room and she just loved it. The bold, darker colors are perfect for a preteen not only because this basically looks like a poster version of her wardrobe, but it doesn't look like something you'd see in a classroom.
