"How to Present the Gospel to Young Children" is an inspiring must-read for Sunday School teachers, Moms, Dads and grandparents. Wellman speaks with the voice of experience, having taught third and fourth grade Sunday School for a number of years. The intention of "How to Present the Gospel" is to persuade us to see things from a child's perspective in whatever we say and do.

Mr. Wellman very wisely points out that to teach children well, we must understand them well. We need to look at things from a kid's-eye-view. Does that mean getting down on your knees so you can see what the world looks like when you're only 3 feet tall? Yes, that's exactly what the author did.

Understanding a child's perspective includes the realization that kids are concrete and literal thinkers. A child who is told that Adam and Eve sinned when they ate fruit from the tree of life might well conclude that fruit eating is sinful, without more explanation. A child who is asked if she wants Jesus to come into her heart may think she has to have surgery. It has happened, and Wellman tells us all about it in this straightforward approach to a child's spiritual education. He emphasizes it is better to tell children to believe in Jesus Christ and commit their lives to Him.

The author even tackles one of the most difficult-to-grasp concepts of all: That Jesus is 100% God and 100% man. A child-friendly explanation compares it to the fact that the author is 100% Kansan, having been born in Kansas, and 100% American, having been born in America.
