If you are new to getting into dogs and how they interact, then this is a great book. If you have young children capable of understanding a higher level of reading, this is a great book. You learn about animals and how and why they do what they do. It's not all about language, it's tone and body language. Great Book, glad I bought it.

Dr Sophia Yin is one of today's top veterinary behaviorists. With her Learn to Earn program, she will help you guide your dog through a plethora of behavior issues and out the other side. On that other side is a dog who is happy, calm, looks to you for leadership, and trusts you to control his environment so that he doesn't have to worry about all of those things that were bugging him before you started the program. Learn to Earn is a scientifically based, humane, and very effective program, and this little booklet will take you step by step through it so that you, too, can have a dog who is polite and for whom life is a trust-filled joy.

Was impressed by the techniques used in this book. All new stuff to me. However, I am wondering how to apply those when feeding with wet food and/or real meat as well as dry food, and also how to apply this in a household with several pets. Any suggestion ? It also is very time consuming, but it worth a try and I will try to apply this new knowledge with my new pup GSD. Read it, and make your own opinion. Any trick you have to share, I'd love to hear/read them.

I love her training methods. She states very clearly what she does and why. Easy to follow and understand, very informative. Dr. Yin also wrote a book for kids. My 9yr. old daughter loves it. She read that book and is now very excited and enthusiastically training our papillon with great success.

The advice in this booklet mostly seems like a reasonable method for gaining control of your dog, but I wouldn't make my dog sit to be petted under every circumstance. I think the method she gives to teach the cue "leave it" would never work for a small dog that can slip right past you. Better to get the dog used to you having treats in your hand and treating with the other hand when they look away and working up to leaving treats on the floor that that can't reach then ones they can. Keep the dog focused on you and not the treats. Teaching your pet to sit before opening and going through doors and getting out of the car are necessary for safety.

First of all, this is not a detailed description of the training method, it is more like a sketch of what Lear to Earn means with direct references to Perfect Puppy in 7 Days (another book of Sophia Yin) which would describe in great details the steps of this method. Also, be aware that the package contains 10 identical booklets.
