It should be obvious how to play with blocks. What I don't find so obvious, and what this book does a nice job with, is explaining the different developmental stages a child goes through -- and how the way I play with her can help her learn more than I would have thought from blocks. Also noted some things to simply NOT do, to get out of the child's way.
The book's prose feels written more toward children than adults. However, since the book's objective is to teach adults to think about blocks (and language, numbers, etc) from the baby/toddler's own developmental place, maybe this isn't a bad thing.
