Best of all: I LOVE the ability to see the tea leaves float and eventually fall. Because of this, I've learned the secret to making my green tea with jasmine taste just right. It has to do with when I pour the water onto the leaves. Only if the water is almost ready to START boiling -- and not after coming DOWN from a boil -- do the tea leaves float. And only then does the tea taste just right! Maybe it's oxygen???
In the past I knew the flavor could be excellent one day and off the next. This glass teapot showed me why.
Update: It's now October 2014 and I've used this pot multiple times daily for five years. Such constant use of something is a surefire way to find out the less-than-perfect aspects of any product (or person). The only thing I can come up with is that the little metal strainer in the spout can be stretched out of shape. While not ideal, it can be bent back into shape to work just fine again. So yeah, that's my only complaint. And it is obviously not a big deal because I just bought this pot again after shattering my original one. (No worries, this pot isn't delicate. I dropped a mug on it from about one foot up. It's gotten plenty of accidental rough handling but having a 10-oz cup dropped on it was too much to ask.) Still love this little pot. Can't wait for my new one.
* Doesn't whistle when boiling
My only worry is it breaking since it is glass and kinda thin glass. I accidentally had it on high heat and forgot about it (all the water evaporated out), but didn't break.
I have used it several times and no issues, so I asume as long as i take care of it / don't drop it I won't have a problem.
Follow up: This new version of the teapot is not as good as the original one. First, there is no stopper for the lid, so it can fall off. Second, the knob is tall and thin which makes it easy to break it when hit accidentally. And I like the shape of this new one less than the original one. That's too bad, because it looks like the original teapot is not available anymore. I won't buy it again.
