Had you asked me to rate this on the first day I owned this product, I would have given it a three star rating. Now, on Day 2, it's a 5 star rating. Why? When I first got the MagGrip, I slid it on the vent in my car, attached the phone using the metal plate provided (which went between my case and the phone) and off I went. The MagGrip held the phone with no problems. However, when I went to slide the phone off the magnet, the entire MagGrip came loose from the vent. I didn't like that at all. On the second day of using it, I was about to reattach it to the vent for the fifth or sixth time when I took a closer look at the rear of the unit, ie, the grippers. I noticed that the 4 rubber grippers were not evenly spaced. The horizontal gap was twice as large as the vertical gap. Epiphany! Not all cars have the same thickness of vent louvers, some are thinner than others. Sure enough, once I turned the MagGrip 90 degrees the tighter spacing held onto my vent with sufficient grip to allow me to remove the phone without pulling the MagGrip off the vent. I couldn't be happier. The MagGrip construction is first rate and it held my large Galaxy Note 4 over some really bumpy roads without any trouble. Just take the time to use the appropriate orientation for your vent size and I think you will be pleased with this item.

Nice little product. It does state to be careful where you stick the magnet because it's permanent. I have an otter box defender case, so I was able to just put the magnet between the outer rubber case and the inner plastic one without using the adhesive backing on the magnet. The magnet does hold my phone very well, I just don't like that it blocks the vent. I have it set up 50/50 over the vent. I don't want to have the A/C blocked. Not a big deal in the winter with the heater.

For the price I wasn't expecting much, but wow are these practical! The build quality feels solid and they have had zero issues keeping my Note 4 and my wife's S7 firmly attached to our car vents. I've always been wary of phone holders that attached to the vents because I've had one in the past that couldn't handle staying put and didn't hold my phones well. Suction mount holders are fine during the winter, but in my state the summer is so hot that they don't stay suctioned at all. I also prefer the line of sight these holders put my phone in vs suction mounts in my car (your results may vary depending on your car's vent layout).These stay put and hold our phones like a champ. Couldn't ask for a better vent mount.

I just stuck the adhesive side of the magnet to the inside of my case for my OnePlus 3 and that seems to work well. I didn't want to stick anything directly to my new phone. The magnet fits inside the case just fine.

Also the vent clip attaches pretty securely to in my BWM 3 series. I would probably test that out before using any adhesive.

Works great except the screw keeps coming loose, so the front plate will spin or rotate if your phone is not exactly 90 degrees
Had to take apart and tighten the screw to keep it from turning.

Else, this is a great product, and works as expected.

The magnet is extremely strong. A little too strong - pulling my phone off the mount proved difficult. Sometimes I would yank and the mount would actually come off the vent because it was stuck so hard to my phone. It's great for those with heavy phones or thick cases. If you have a lighter phone or thin case perhaps you would be better off with a weaker magnet, or tape some padding onto the magnet so that it weakens its grip on your phone. But one thing is for sure: your phone isn't falling down.

I really like the idea of magnets holding my phones in place when I am driving. The flat piece that goes on the back of the phone is so thin that you never notice that it is there until you go to place it on the magnet. I have mine inside the phone case so you really don’t know they are there. He magnet that I have in my car and in my wife’s car is one that sticks to the dash board and holds the phone in place. I liked them so much, I got another one for my work car. The magnet did not work so well in the work car because of the way the dash board is designed and the material is it made of, the magnet keeps coming unstuck and causes my phone to fall. Then I saw this and thought this might work well in my car to replace that magnet that will not stick to the dash. I place the magnet in the vents on my car and to my surprise, the magnet stays in place without any wiggle. It held my phone in place as well without any wiggle for the entire day of driving. And when I get out of the car, the phone dislodges easily from the magnet without the magnet attempting to come out of the vent. My only complaint about this product is that when my phone is connected to the magnet, it blocks almost that entire vent from delivering cold air. The upside to this, my phone doesn’t overheat because the AC is constantly blowing on it.
