- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2013Tom Mount wrote the book on Technical Diving when he wrote this book. It has everything: gear config, tables and deco schedules, physiology, techniques for propulsion and minimal silt disturbance. It is the Encyclopedia. I read my friends and had to buy one for myself. Great reference book too.
If you want to be a better diver, even if you only dive warm, shallow reefs, read this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2017This was a Christmas gift for my son. He said it is an older book but has very valuable information.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2001Curious about what is tech diving about, what are the limitations, how is it accomplished or just want to be better informed? Either way this book is an excellent source of information and much of it applies to all diving.
Sure, you know that EVERY dive is a decompression dive, right? Maybe you wonder about the how's and why's of technical diving. Maybe your are already a techinical diver but want to learn more. Then again, maybe you are very happy with sport diving but would like to become more knowledgable about what is affecting you on every dive. This is a comprehensive work covering all aspects of techinical diving knowledge at the time of publication. Dive physiology, equipment type and application, dive tables and tidbits of information from a recognized leader in the tech diving community. Tech diving is not for everyone, but this book provides useful in-depth information for every dive enthusiast. What is the Hogarthian style, how is configured, and why? Do I really need to keep in shape for diving? Why does that diver carry so many tanks, lights, and reels? When is a boat a dingy? My favorite aspect of the book is the way mental attitudes are addressed, "Believe you will or believe you won't, either way you are right". With this text a reader can learn that there is training and technology available to make you a safer diver and also to take you beyond the recreational dive envelope.
