If you are needing an all-around torch without breaking the bank, this is definately the one to purchase. It's well worth the extra money over purchasing a "Victor type" Chineese aftermarket torch. There is a huge difference between the "Victor type" and the real thing. The gauges alone are worth the price difference and the hoses included will last without cracking and leaking within a few months, like the ones I purchases through Harbor Freight did in the past.
Acetylene is a very dangerous gas and is extremely explosive if you get a leak comming from a bad torch, hose or gauge. I would purchase this set for the safety mechanisms that Victor has built in place to avoid these dangers.
I recommend that you purchase a 00 cutting nozzle and welding torch attachment if you are going to cut or weld anything thinner than 1/8". They're very inexpensive on Amazon and well worth having.
I would recommend this set to anyone that isn't welding professionly. I know two porfessional welders that wuse this torch in their buisness and that is where I had it recommended to me.
The sets from cheaper brands come with more welding tips but this includes everything you really need. You can get more tips on Amazon for pretty good prices, between $10-$30 each. Look for any tips marked as "W-1" and they should fit this torch handle.
I am a professional welder/ fitter 20+ years. This gets the job done with out the extra weight and bulk of the heavy duty models. Who really cuts over 6" thick plate by hand anyways these days?
